I don't think that we'll be inside the top 10 pick wise especially as spring time comes and teams start tanking it. Nets will be playing at full steam and with hopefully Russell and Okafor in the mix.

You have far more faith in this team than I do. I'm thinking it's almost a lock top 10 pick, and even more so if we were to trade some talent in order to get the pick back.

Rondae is trending towards all star level with his production and upside. that would be a huge mistake to trade him for our own pick. we have 11 wins now and we have 4 months left. we'll be fine imo.

Let me ask this. If somehow Klay Thompson became available for trade, would anyone here object to Marks going after him?

At the expense of RHJ, or LeVert?

I'm biased, because LeVert is my favorite player on the team and to me still has the equally highest upside of anyone currently on this roster so I say no to him.

And to me, RHJ is a guy I want to pair with Klay.

I do think Klay is likely to be shopped now or this summer though and I do think he's exactly the type of player Marks is waiting to pounce on.

The problem is, GSW is good at drafting, good at developing, good at signing players and I'd imagine good in trade. I think they would want one main young piece back, whose got a couple extra years of rookie scale, or a high draft pick, not a smorgasborg, so one of those 2 would have to be involved and not just multiple late and future picks, because at this deadline I still think other teams offer up a high pick or a very interesting player.

But if somehow you can land him for something like Carroll, Toronto 1st, future 1st and maybe even my main man Dinwiddie, you have to jump on it.

Klay is awesome and all. Great shooter. Really good defender. Doesn't need to dominate the ball. Very good in transition. Smart player. But what does he look like not on GSW? He doesn't get to the line. Somewhat suspect handles. Not really an initiator or creator. Has the luxury of being able to dig in on D because he doesn't have to expend endless energy on O. Now I honestly don't think his role changes on a ton on a team like this. But does he get us that close to a title if you have to give up RHJ or LeVert, or Allen, or 2 of the 3 to get him? Idk. I don't think so.

I'd honestly cringe at trading either player the more that I think about it. LeVert's upside is looking skyhigh right now. RHJ is a stud, look at the production this season and his developing a 3pt shot is a matter of when and not if.

Russell/LeVert/RHJ/Allen to me are a non starter really.

I think our guys are being severely overrated. I do like LeVert, and he has the toolset to be great, but I'm not betting the farm on him. RHJ is trending towards being an all-star? I don't see it. He's a nice player. His realistic upside may be Atlanta Demarre Carroll. Possibly a little higher, but not much. He's a nice swiss-army knife role player, but he's not a top 3 option on an elite team. Allen is an athletic big, and it's way too early to draw any conclusions on him. Russell also has upside, but the jury is still out on him as well.

DLo & LeVert have the highest upside. The key for Marks will be to know when to sell high on these guys. If not for Dinwiddie's recent shooting slump, I'd say now would be the time to strike on a major deal with Dinwiddie or RHJ.

You can't load up your books before landing a star. Dinwiddie & RHJ can be solid #4-8 guys on a team, but we can't afford to lock them up to big money before having #1-3 on the roster.

I dont view Levert as some super high ceiling player. i see him being just a better version of the role guy he is now. maybe liek a career 1 time all star off a peak season. If i can get klay for him i do think in a nano second. He doesnt have the size, athletic ability, or shooting to be a great player imo. im a big fan, would be happy keeping him. but i dont think he is a perrenial fringe all-star

I agree... although i think that its DLO and RHJ who have our most potential.. i think RHJ is already better then ATL carroll. and i think he has all-nba potential on defense.

i dont see a star on this team yet. russell has the ability but im not convinced yet.

DMC’s best year in Atlanta (28 years old)
- 13, 5 and 2, PER 15.9, TS% .603

RHJ this year (23 years old)
- 14, 6 and 2, PER 18.3, TS% .577

RHJ right is better than the best DMC and at 23, should have atleast 1 more leap (maybe 2) before he reaches his ceiling. For instance, he is now shooting 30% from 3 on one shot per game. If he can get that up to 33% on 2 shots, sky is the limit.

I'm very biased towards guys that can put you on their backs offensively when you need a bucket. LeVert shows flashes of doing that. RHJ will never be a go to guy offensively. He may wind up better than LeVert, but I think best case scenario for LeVert is higher.

it's hard to argue this (involving LeVert in a trade for Klay) although i believe that LeVert's ceiling is way higher than what you have it at, but this is all subjective.

I'm fine saying he'll never be a go to guy offensively. I'd love to be wrong, but game on the line for a very good team, I don't see him with the ball in his hands to create the offense.

well yes, the lead guard would have the ball. i just see him catching the ball, sizing up defenders and attacking....i think he is a legit offensive option. still developing of course. but i see where he is going with this.

still early so who knows. to me levert is just a career role guy. 14-15 ppg off the bench as a spark plug. to me RHJ will be maybe DPOTY one day.

i dont view levert as ever being an offensive force. he is above average or good but not great at anything offensively and isnt big/super athletic/super quick

I think Crabbe is a start. Batum is awkward to place trade value on because the player he is on the court right now far surpasses what he will produce for what he is paid towards the end of his contract.

I agree, I think Dinwiddie is one of those players that is worth way more to the team he plays for than what they could get for him in a trade and there's no reason to trade players like that for less than they're worth.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
