There’s going to be a board riot when BC sells all the 2nds once again.

So I'm guessing there will NOT be an announcement today regarding Markelle's status.

Who was it that reported there would be a "positive" update coming today?

Likely just piggybacked on what Fultz had said.

It is quite clear we need a guard who can shoot off the dribble and create his own shots. I love the trade up today as much as before. I hope he returns very soon as we need him.

its basically wednesday now.... isnt the next update this saturday? hopefully he starts actually practicing soon. i really dont wanna wait another 2-3 weeks to see him play. maybe if the team hasnt looked so garbage the past two weeks we'd be fine but we desperately need his skill set right now. im tired of watching ben and bayless on offense.

get ready for another 3 weeks of practice.

then a sudden setback.

then a 3 week evaluation.

then he's out for the year.

Fultz's wingspan is listed at 6'10" but this "official" measurement comes from U18 USA, so a few years ago now. He'll be one of the longer NBA guards when he does eventually take the floor, maybe not quite the length of Frank N but not far off. It will be particularly noticeable in him shooting over closeouts and on the defensive end of the floor.

He said he would be out for this year and not next year also. That is the positive view.

Interesting. I've never heard of wingspan being useful for shooting over a defender. I'm not sure that I understand the correlation. Based on what I've seen of him I'm not sure his wingspan gives him the advantage that you believe, based on how many shots he seems to get blocked.

He gets shots blocked when trying to finish at the rim, which was particularly common for him when he had his "scapular imbalance", ie couldn't shoot from distance at all and hence was trying to makeup for his lack of scoring by driving. In college he was routinely good shooting over defenders with his array of "hesi pull-up jimbos" etc - very quick and fluid to get his shot off from distance. That was a strength of his in college and it routinely translates well to the NBA if the player has a high release point, which Fultz did.

That's one worry I have about Trae Young, his release point isn't that high and he doesn't have the length of a Fultz anyway. Its a pretty minor quibble with Young though, he makes up for it in so many other ways with his incredible craft and awesome finishing from almost anywhere on the floor.

Having a high release point on a jumper has nothing to do with wingspan.
