okay. we won't beat Detroit, Toronto, or Cleveland in a playoff series. Boston tough too. they should all have home court. maybe I'm ready to concede we need another rookie contract or 1st round pick.

Thad is a nice player and all and it would be good for the team if he opts in (we can try to trade him twice) but if he wants a new big contract, it's a no for me.

Cojo, 3, Lance, Turner, they all need new contracts and are all better options for this team moving forward than a 30 years old below average shooter, below average rebounder and average defender. Last thing we need is another lockerroom leader to go Monta on us (counting dollars and days till retirement).

Thad is replaceable and was a leftover of teams who had already gone small long before us.
We need to try something new with Sabonis and Myles. Trying to play small (bigs shooting 3s) with 2 mobile 7footers.
Per 36 minutes Sabonis grabs more than 5 rebounds more than Thad. That's huge and I want to know if we can exploit it in our advantage against other smallball 4s. We need to find our own identity in stead of copying other teams.

I say keep thad. We have a young and sometimes inconsistent roster and I view him as a very consistent player, not only on our roster but even for his past teams. While he isn't carrying the team, we know we're getting the same solid effort night in and night out. I think that's really important to have.

If the pieces fit to where guys are able to be successful and the team is winning lockerooms will take care of themselves. Thad is a capable player but his position is one that we need more from to take the next step. Right now Vic and Myles are the only two players that I see as quality starters. And, Myles needs help in the areas of strength and rebounding that Thad doesn’t provide.

I'm open to the idea of trading Thad, but there are several other players I'd trade before him.

Vic has been a revelation so far, and it's safe to say that everyone's really happy about that. And I actually do believe that he has some more room to improve. But here's the thing. If all goes well, it looks like the Pacers can get maybe 4 more years of prime Vic, before he starts to gradually slow down. The question is, how many years of Vic's prime are the Pacer's willing to sacrifice while the team rebuilds? 1? Maybe 2?

Although the Pacers are considered a young team right now, the best player on the team is already entering his prime. Pacers are actually in a different situation from teams such as Knicks, Bucks, 76ers, T-Wolves, etc, teams that can legitimately dedicate the next 2 or 3 seasons to rebuild before starting to compete. I'd say the Pacers are more comparable to the Wizards and the Trailblazers - young, but they need to start winning sooner rather than later.

I am all for rebuilding and letting the younger players develope, but if Vic is going to be considered the centre piece of the Pacers for the foreseeable future, the team actually needs to be ready to start making deep playoff pushes rather soon-ish. Which is why if it's possible I'm rather happy keeping Thad around for the next few years, in a supporting role

I know we are in the running for a playoff spot, but I think we need to trade Young. It will open up minutes for young players and we should be able to land something valuable.

I think this is a valid point but getting solid player that fits into the age window won't be easy. This might involve taking some risk (throwing $$$ at a guy like Herzonja, using a pick to get a guy like Stanley Johnson, Justice Winslow or MKG).
