They need two starters. At least 1 player to go with Bradley, Tobias, & Drummond.

Yikes, that kind of hurts them. The whole month of January is a tough schedule.

Ehh, Philly & Houston back to back could be tough, and two games against Cleveland at the end of the month will be as well. Other than that the only game i'd be worried about is @Toronto
Nothing compared to what we had from mid-November to mid-December

They play SAS on the 30th, then Miami, Philly, Houston and New Orleans in an eight day span, with the only home games being against Houston/SA. Not that Philly/Miami/New Orleans are world beaters, but healthy vs an unhealthy Detroit team, I definitely favor them. The also play Toronto, OKC, Cleveland twice and then Miami again on the third of February. That’s a rough stretch for a team missing their starting PG.
I’m not too high on them in general, and I don’t expect them to blow it up and stink over the next 8 weeks, but I think they’ll lose more than they win, for sure.

I mean, yeah. Any team without their starting point guard is likely going to struggle, even against marginal teams. But there are a lot of winnable games in there.

Han Solo wrote:19-14. 4th in the East. Destroyed a Pacers team last night that had momentum coming in. All without Avery Bradley for the last few weeks. They're starting to look like a team that will be in that 4-7 range in the playoff picture. Big improvement from last year. If Van Gundy can swing a trade for a decent SF, they may get out of the first round. Drummond is still shooting 62% from FT. He shot 38% last year. Tobias Harris is shooting 45% from 3 (with many attempts) and averaging 18 ppg.
Personally, I think that you're the 4th best team in the East. I thought that same thing when you had dropped 7 straight games too since all of them were against tough opponents.
The East has a lot of teams in the 4-9 range (and maybe even 10 if we count Philly) that all seem to be pretty good and are around the same level. It's probable that having a .500 record will not be enough to make the playoffs in the East this season. Detroit, in my opinion, is a tiny bit better than the rest of these teams.
That said, Reggie Jackson is going to miss 6-8 weeks and this could affect your standings. Ish Smith is a great player (he has always caused us problems) but I don't know who you're back-up PG now that Ish is going to be starting.
In any case, this is a very good season for you despite the injuries. I hope that we don't meet you in the playoffs.

He’s definitely a candidate. Olidipo is probably gonna get it, but I could see Drummond on the top 3...
Sucks about Reggie. Hopefully Ish Smith can step up - he’s really good too so may not be as bad as it sounds.

Re: Pistons
if anyone actually thought they were a legit top 4 team, go watch more basketball.
I said they could finish anywhere from 4-7 before they went on this skid because they are just an average basketball team.

Re: Pistons
Have basically wasted our last 3 top picks in Stanley Johnson who doesnt look like he will cut it, Henry Ellenson who definitely wont cut it and Luke Kennard who has shown signs but has far too many holes in his game.
Combine that with injuries to Avery Bradley & Reggie and a team with zero depth off the bench it will battle to make the playoffs from here.

Has Kennard really been that bad? I thought he looked good in Summer League, but haven't followed him since that time.

Re: Pistons
I really liked how smooth it looked when Kennard shot it against the Magic tonight. But once he picked up his dribble and was forced to make any sort of smart decisions with the ball, he fell apart.

He was -22 on court today.

Hmmm. Not good. Maybe he just needs time like most rookies? Although with Avery Bradley there I'm not sure there's a big future for him.

Re: Pistons
This was an expected loss for Detroit. Losing Reggie Jackson hurts them a lot but what is hurt the most by it is their bench. Their bench needs someone like Ish Smith to be out there and create. Langston Galloway and Stanley Johnson cannot really be relied upon to create offense for their teammates.
Losing both Reggie Jackson and Avery Bradley has left Detroit with only one ball-handler/creator (Ish Smith). The good news for them is that Bradley is set to return soon.

Re: Pistons
As Morey said about us "regression to the mean".
The Pistons were/are not one of the best teams in the league. They were playing very good basketball and things were clicking so they had a bit of a streak but end of day no offense but they just don't have enough talent to remain around the top of the conference. They are a Playoff to borderline Playoff team, that's just the make up their roster. Drummond and Bradley are a couple of really nice pieces that can be a part of a contender (not the franchise players) but they have a ways to go and need to try to figure out who they can package from their roster to bring in another big piece to continue to build on.

Kennard has been decent honestly. Shoots the 3 ball well as advertised and plays under control for the most part. Not bad by any means for the typical 12th pick in the draft. Of course, a lot of people are upset because he's a safe low upside prospect and we passed on Mitchell. And I can't really blame them. (I didn't follow the draft class so I had no opinion on who to take at the time)
Fair to say Stanley was a miss though. Everytime he takes a jumper they might as well write it off as a turnover. He really, really sucks offensively.

It wasn't accurate when Morey said that about you and it's not accurate about the Pistons now.

Here's the thing with the East right now. There are 3 teams that are clearly above the rest. Those teams are the Celtics, the Raptors and the Cavs. Then there's 5 teams with a record ranging from 19-15 (Detroit) to 18-16 (Miami). Those 5 teams are really, really close when it comes to power level and they're going to duke it out throughout the season. And then you have the Knicks (17-18) and the Sixers (15-18) on the outside looking in with a lot of potential to join the previously-mentioned group. Both of them can go above .500, depending on the health of their star players (KP and Embiid).
In my opinion, the Pistons are the best team out of that 5 team group (that includes the Bucks, the Wizards, my very own Pacers and the Heat). They have a top 10 defense (#9 currently -> https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/defensive-efficiency) and an above average offense (#13 currently -> https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/offensive-efficiency). The Wizards have very similar numbers and I could put them above the Pistons at full health but they cannot seem to win the games that they're supposed to win and that's what usually gives a team a high seeding (playoffs are a different story).
