I'd do that deal with those two being the primary moving parts. Something seems to have to be added for salary matching purposes.

Knicks go for it ! Gasol and Rubio to MSG

Post#725 » by scottyg » Fri Dec 29, 2017 3:15 pm

Trade # 1
Knicks get-
- Marc Gasol
- Ricky Rubio

NY gets another all start to go with KP and makes their defense more close to elite and all their bigs can shoot the 3 and play defense and they move their rookie Nitilkina to play 6th man first guard off then bench and have Rubio show him how to be a pass first guard

Jazz get
- Mike Conley

Why ? Anyone who says they wouldn’t trade Rubio and joe Johnson for a top 10 pg in the league and someone who’s gonna help Mitchell grow even more is a fool, esp for Rubio and the rarely used joe Johnson and yes the money is a lot but he’s gonna be a borderline all star for the rest of his contract and can also play off the ball unlike Rubio and fits the system like a glove !

Grizz get-
- Ernes Kanter
- Willy Hernangomez
- Joe Johnson
-Rob Baker
-Doug McDermott
-2018 lottery protected 1st rd draft pick via NY
-2018 2nd rd pick via utah ( or future 2 )

Why? They decide it’s times to tank and get a big exp contract in Johnson and get some young bigs, Kanter might end up being a exp contract if he opts out and get a young guy In Hernangomez and get some draft picks and ensure themselves that they don’t send their pic over to Boston this year, a top 5 player and some young players is a good start to a rebuild

Thunder could use Oquinn and Lee

Cavs could use Kanter/Oquinn/Lee

Lots of teams could use these players. Find some matches and let’s grt back to developing the young guys.

Another player we should target this offseason if we're able to open up some capspace

Philly needs to trade some 2nd rounders unless they are going to do a lot of draft and stash

They could for sure. I would hope the Knicks aren't just in a giving mood and would like some actual value back.

Porzingis and our pick for Embiid and their pick, assuming there's a 5-10 pick gap between us and them. Maybe we have to sweeten and throw in our Bulls pick or such.

Frank + Embiid future. Okay maybe Frank won't be Simmons offensively but shooting and true orchestrating eventually, plus D.

Embiid misses too many games.

FOH. I never said I didn't want him. Also, this is considered baiting.

Problem with Trading Lee is there are almost zero teams with the space to take his contract on without giving us a big contract back. It's not as easy as saying we should get a late 1st back for him. We'd have to be willing to take on a similar sized deal in return or an expiring of some sort and there aren't many expirings out there on teams that would have interest in Lee.

We could so something with the Cavs like Lee for Frye and Osman but I don't know if that's worth it and we don't know exactly how "all-in" the Cavs are with the prospect of LBJ leaving at years end. In theory we could maybe do Shump and a 2nd for Lee and hope Shump opts out but I think I'd rather just have Lee here for 3 years than dealing with Shump again for one less year...
