GT #37: Bulls @ Wizards 3:30 PM (NBCSW/1500 AM)

Post#1 » by FAH1223 » Sun Dec 31, 2017 12:22 am

YOUR Washington Bullets ARE 20-16! They hope to finish 2017 with a W on New Years Eve.

After a BIG W over the Rockets, the Wizards fall into another game where they're playing a sub .500 team. The Wiz are 11-6 against above .500 teams and 9-10 against sub .500 teams. The craptastic loss in ATL after the big W in Boston was a let down. Will they let it happen again?

The 13-22 Bulls are resurgent. They've 8 out of their last 10. Mirotic is shooting the lights out. They have several good young players who haven't gotten the memo that they're supposed to be tanking. Could the Bulls make a run for the postseason? :o

If the Wiz don't play 48 minutes, THEY WILL LOSE to the Bulls. I hope someone in the locker room gets it in their heads..

Is the Bulls' starting center Jared Cunningham?

Don't tell me Otto and Valentine aren't twins, separated at birth.

This is going to be a pretty big game for the Bulls season, imo. I'm honestly hoping we lose some because at this rate we're going to run with things and end up a treadmill team.

You guys better be in good form though, the Bulls are playing mindblowingly well right now.

Mirotic has been ballin after coming back, so I think the bench production is going to be key. The wiz have to beat a team under .500 eventually.

This is a worst case scenario. The Bulls are under .500. They've won 8 of their last 10 games. The strength of the Bulls is their big men, who score inside and out.

The Wizards are very unpredictable. Who knows what will happen? The Wizards defend the 3-point shot pretty well but I don't see anybody stopping Mirotic.

I'm most looking forward to the matchup between John Wall and Kris Dunn.

Over the Bulls last 12 games, Bulls are 10-2 and ...

"....they have ranked second in pace, third in defensive rating, fourth in scoring, fifth in assists, sixth in 3-point percentage and eighth in shooting...." [Chicago Trib]

Do not take us lightly. Please win. We need the losses.
TGibson (1/28/17); "..."a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 for drama"...What's the worst? "...yelling matches with Thibs, everybody is just going crazy and I'm just sitting there...like, 'Don't call my name please..."

Don't raise Your hope high. If Wall and Beal are starting to force too many shots it will be sign our iso ball has returned and that means we will probably lose.

I saw the stats and it is just strange how Your team is doing so well (lastly) with all those injuries.
I know Mirotic is hot but who else is big part of this late success? Coach? Rookie or someone else?
Interesting how Morris/Porter will defend Mirotic.
I wanna watch Dunn performance and see what he develops since Minny time.

The Bulls coaching is puzzling to me - literally their best 4 players all come off the bench - Portis, Mirotic, Nwaba and Grant.

I think our bench will need to bring their A game today :)

I think the Bulls will be a playoff team. They are definitely not tanking.

At 13-22, they are 5.5 games behind 19-17, which are the 7/8 east spots. I think 43 wins will guarantee a playoff spot. Since the Bulls can have already won 10 of their last 12, they can easily finish the season 30-17 or better.

Portis or Oubre?

Who will have the better game?

This - you would think both would be up for the game - we will see. I think the Scott/Mirotic matchup will be key for the reserves.

Dunn's 50:50 on playing. He missed the last game. When he plays he is dynamic and a game changer. His advanced stats may look poor but don't be fooled. Grant plays 'safe'.

Be wary of the Bulls getting out quickly after a defensive stop. They all run, bigs and smalls, with the exception of maybe RoLo. Nwaba offensively doesn't do much other than run. The way the Bulls are playing now, it's hard to pinpoint one player Wiz should stop. Pretty much everybody on Bulls is contributing in their own small way. Portis had 12/7 in 15min, while Markkanen scored 32 in the last game. Holiday and Valentine maybe afterthoughts but they both contribute. Fred Hoiberg has them all playing on the same page right now, and they're playing with confidence.

Hoping that the unusual Sunday afternoon start throws them for a loop and they come out flat.

A huge part of our 3-20 start was our so-so starters and our putrid bench. We had to play the likes of Felicio, Zipser, Felder, and Pondexter meaningful minutes who contributed nothing.

But since Dunn, Portis, Mirotic, and Nwaba returned, we’ve had one of the best benches in the league. Grant, Niko, and Portis can catch fire and score from all over the floor. Nwaba usually shuts down the other team’s best bench scorer (or Giannis if we play the Bucks). Zipser is the only weak link there - and we’re not sure if he even belongs in the league - but he’s been playing solid lately.

Basically, if your starters aren’t able to build a huge lead against ours, our bench mob will blow the game wide open.
