That episode is kind of like the series' mission statement. If you don't care for it you won't like the rest of the series.

If you're into happy endings, it might not be your show

Season 4 was pretty disappointing to me. Still good but really not on the same level as the BBC series or even season 3.

Completely disagree. I didn't find that episode compelling at all. The rest however, very different.

Only had time for one Black Mirror ep but that first one was fun. If that's any indication for the rest of the season then I'm stoked.

I also wasn't especially impressed with Dunkirk. It just wasn't very interesting, and there is zero rewatchability.

For one of the most daring rescues in the history of modern warfare, the whole film comes off a bit...boring?

Kind of random but I've had a desire to jump into Star Trek. Haven't seen any of the tv series or movies. Where do i start? Don't have much interest in the original series as that looks too dated for me, but otherwise open to all other options. Thanks!

That's a helluva question. The series is so massive that trying to pick a starting point is daunting.

I'm no "trekkie," so I'd defer to them. But of the Star Trek I have watched, The Next Generation always seemed really good. Picard is the ****.

Same here. Character development was pretty bad, too. I had no emotional connection to any of the characters. It could've been SO much better.

A movie like Hacksaw Ridge completely blows it out of the water (no pun intended).

Again, you just want the movie to be something it's not even trying to do. If it's not your cup of tea, it's not your cup of tea, but character development is not something it even has it's mind on. I thought "Hacksaw Ridge" was mediocre and "Dunkirk" is in my top 5 modern war movies.

Went to see The Shape of Water instead of watching football this afternoon. All the ingredients were there for it to be my favorite movie of the year but it just didn't quite get there, as much as I wanted it to. I couldn't quite buy into the central relationship, which is basically the pillar of the entire movie. I think Del Toro just missed the mark there, it needed a bit more development for some of the things that happen later in the movie to feel earned.

Really want to see it. Had to chose between Three Billboards and Shape. I chose Three Billboards and I loved it. Still want to see Shape though.

Agree 100% about Hacksaw Ridge. That movie did nothing for me and Dunkirk is certainly better.

Too dated? What does it matter. The original is classic TV.

Opinion is subjective. He basically just said he doesn't like anchovies and you said he's wrong and should like anchovies.

The Last Jedi transcends Star Wars. Clearly superior to all other Star Warses, though obviously owes an unpayable debt to them.

That's like 80% of this thread. Hell, this board as a whole. The internet.

I kind of took it as an encouragement, to look past preconcieved notions, rather than a rebuke.

Also, anchovies are gross. Bad example.
