Tommy Goes for 300, Welcome Luis | Mets @ Brewers Series

Tuesday, July 31 Purchase Tickets Miller Park | 8:05 PM ET
NYM Tom Glavine, LHP (9-6, 4.51)
Mets (59-46) @ MIL Jeff Suppan, RHP (8-9, 5.08)
Brewers (57-49)

Scouting Report:
Mets: Glavine is on the cusp. Beating the Brewers will make him the 23rd pitcher in history to win 300 games. He covets that distinction. It hasn't come easy to this point. Glavine's ERA in his nine most recent starts is 6.31. He has three losses and two no-decisions in his last five starts on the road.

Brewers: Suppan has had to work around 23 baserunners in his last two starts, and the results have been predictably rough. On Wednesday in Cincinnati, he lasted only five innings for the second straight outing, allowing 10 hits for the second time this season to go along with five runs. Suppan has worked fewer than six innings in six of his last eight starts and has not been the innings-eater the Brewers were looking for. He lost to the Mets on May 11 at Shea Stadium, allowing four runs in six innings.

Wednesday, August 1 Purchase Tickets Miller Park | 8:05 PM ET
NYM Oliver Perez, LHP (9-7, 2.84)
Mets (59-46) @ MIL Dave Bush, RHP (8-8, 4.91)
Brewers (57-49)

Scouting Report:
Mets: Perez was solid over his first five innings on July 26, striking out eight and holding the Pirates to just one hit and zero runs. The left-hander unraveled in the sixth, however, when he gave up his only walk of the day and five unearned runs, including a two-run homer to Yankees castoff Josh Phelps. Perez ended the inning with his ninth strikeout, but the damage had already been done as he recorded his first loss since returning from the disabled list on July 15.

Brewers: In his most recent outing, Bush surrendered more than three runs for just the second time in his last eight starts. He's 5-5 with a 4.30 ERA this season at home and 14-9 with a 3.83 ERA at Miller Park since joining the Brewers last season. Bush missed the Mets when the Brewers traveled to Shea Stadium in May. He has held left-handers to a .215 average this season, but right-handers are hitting .331.

Thursday, August 2 Purchase Tickets Miller Park | 2:05 PM ET
NYM Jorge Sosa, RHP (7-6, 4.59)
Mets (59-46) @ MIL Claudio Vargas, RHP (9-2, 4.30)
Brewers (57-49)

Scouting Report:
Mets: Sosa was inconsistent at best in his last start, on Friday against the Nationals. Sosa was up-and-down during his six innings on the hill, allowing his five earned runs on eight hits -- including two homers -- in three of his six innings. The right-hander especially struggled in the second frame, when a string of four doubles gave Washington a 3-0 lead. Sosa gave up nine total hits on the night, walking three and striking out three to record his third consecutive loss.

Brewers: Manager Ned Yost had a hard time overstating the importance of Vargas' most recent start, a bullpen-saving, eight-inning performance that set up the Brewers for a doubleheader the next day. Vargas pitched past the sixth inning for the first time all season in a blowout win at St. Louis, and matched his career high for innings pitched. The Brewers improved to 15-3 when he starts, and Vargas has won each of his last three outings.

LETS GO METS BABY! Let's go Tommy G! Time to get #300 and dont let this bum Suppan shut us down again!

This is a test for us against two tough NL Central teams. I'm looking forward to watching Castillo in a Mets uni..

Glavine's family reaction is priceless!

You would think after being in NY for 4 years they would be used to this.

In other news: Our offense is still pretty anemic.

Willie is too damn stupid to ever consider that. Even Torre does that from time to time w/Rivera. We really needed Cordero or Gagne.
