Re: Porzingis thread #4: The KP era is upon us
KP just needs to focus on taking good shots and figuring out a way to impact the game when his shot isn’t falling. Playing when you’re overly concerned or conscious of your PPG average just leads to bad shots.

Can anyone guess who else in the Knicks front office were in favor of trading KP?

I knew it. What KP did and his overall behavior last season was a big no no. If skipping that meeting irked me a lot odds are it really irked a lot of people it was actually disrespectful to which is basically all of management and the coaching staff.
I’m glad it’s worked out but honestly I think putting him on the block was the right move at the time.

Things kp needs a lot of work on.
Footwork in post. When he gets the ball down low instead of utilizing his size and finding a way to get closer to the rim (see kanter)....he squares up, over dribbles, and either turns the ball over or forces up a difficult fade away shot (see melo). He needs to stop this low efficiency iso garbage.
He also needs to work on understanding when he's being double teamed. I cringe every time he puts his head down, puts the ball on the floor, and tries to take his man 1on1 and the help defender pokes the ball away and it's an instant 5on4 in transition the other way.
PICK YOUR HEAD UP AND PASS THE BALL! SOMEONE IS OPEN! QUIT BEING A BLACK HOLE!
He's become a 7'3 melo. No time for that.

And rebounding. People say he's too skinny, but I remember skinny players like Camby being beasts on the boards.
Edit: Perhaps Jackson was right in saying KP might be too tall to box out?

Guys like Bradley and Ilgauskas also were **** rebounders, i don't think kp will ever average double digit boards even if he plays 35min a night. I'm more worried about his field goal %. Dude needs to get more easy looks at the rim.

Re: Porzingis thread #4: The KP era is upon us
I take KP at his word that he is getting fouled a lot and it's just not getting called. I've watched him sink those shots consistently while being guarded in practice. I know an NBA game is a different situation, but if a smaller NBA player is guarding him he should be able to shoot over him with accuracy if he's not being fouled. At a certain point, when he's an established super star, he will get those calls.

KP doesn’t go after it. Good rebounders want to come down with every rebounder. He will never be that because he Doesn’t go after it.
He is lazy going for rebounds also doesn’t read the bell well in the air/off the rim

Be careful for what you wish for
He is not going to fulfill every need
He's not built to fight for every board in the paint
He can do better, but I don't ever expect him to average 10 per game. If he does, I'll be very impressed
