John Wall & Marcin Gortat

Post#1 » by Zingod » Mon Jan 1, 2018 6:06 pm

They both have regressed.

Wall just got his supermax extension and is putting up 18/8/4 on 41/32/70
I mean how overrated is he? You gonna have to pay him 40m per season soon when he's getting constantly outplayed by guys like Schröder or rookie point guards.

Gortat is averaging only 8+8 ,but at least it makes sense since he's turning 34 next month.

Wiz should trade Wall for picks and re-tool around Beal, Porter, Oubre & draft picks imo.

Preach, brother.

They can't trade him until July though. I've been saying Lillard for Wall makes sense for both teams.

Yea I never understood why people were putting John Wall into the top 10 as a player last year or thinking he's even in the universe of best PG discussion. He's a good young player, but his efficiency leaves a lot to be desired. Sadly he hasn't become a player you can build around.

I never understood the hype over Wall. His athleticism is nice but he doesn't strike me as a winner.

In fairness Wall has been injured this year. I think with gortat it is because he is getting old and seems unhappy in Washington

Maybe Wall is regressing cause of his decline in speed, either way though the Wizards are a legit playoff team.

I'd move Beal and his cancerous me-first attitude before Wall.

Blazers say hell no, look at the salary differences over the next few years. Wall is gonna make 46 million in 22-23 yikes.

Hasn't Wall been injured most of this season?!

Hard to judge a guy's numbers when he's just recovering...since no one is even talking about Gortat + you dismissed the decline based on his age, you might as well have just named this thread something to the effect that you believe Wall is overrated.

When wall was out wizards lost almost every game...
And gortat has been terrible which hurts wall game
example no capela for harden
No adams for westbrook
Ans gortat is no where near those 2 level but no having a strong finishing center takes away the effectiveness of the pnr...

Not to mentiom wall played rim protector vs the bulls because....well....
Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!
Bron, Bosh, Wade is like Mike, Hakeem, barkley...3 top 5 picks from same draft
mike, hakeem and Barkley on the same team!!!!

What team is going to offer picks/assets for Wall at 40M+ with his production? He's set to make 46M on 2022, mother of god. :o

Gortat is pretty much playing like expected. His minutes and role aren’t huge so his production isn’t great.

Wall is just overrated and was injured so he’s had a down year

It seems silly to do a Wall has regressed thread without factoring in he's been hurt.

Wall was not overrated last year, he was a beast, and raised his numbers in the playoffs. Thats why he got the extension. He's had a bad start to this season, but nobody is hyping him this year or putting him in top 10 lists.

That said, seems kind of early to write him off.
Its reasonable to assume he just hasn't found a rhythm or gotten into shape after injuries and minute restrictions. I would expect him to much better in the second half of the season. Even now, the Wizards have won 7 of 10 since he came back from injury, so his impact is there.

Wall is playing at about 80% and Gortat is getting old

Wall's injury is a big factor here. He hasn't found his rhythm.

Wall is a beast. He's just the only star in the league who literally hasn't found a rhythm all year due to injury but he won't continue like this. That's why I like the Wiz as the 2nd best team in the east. When he finds his rhythm then they will be hard to beat

Wall only regressed because he's been hurt. I've been following since he's on my fantasy team. Really frustrating but it's understandable.

Also, Otto Porter is the one regressing in that wizards team. His production took a dive when Wall got hurt. And you think Wall should be the one to be traded lol

Porter has certainly played worse since Wall was hurt and perhaps "didn't raise to the circumstances". He didn't step up as a 2nd option behind Beal.

That said, he has certainly not regressed. This season his scoring, assisting and rebounding more than ever. He also has overall the best advanced statistics of his career.
