Worst Contract on the Nuggets
Arthur's contract is nice for him and I'm glad, but I'm betting he'd rather be playing. It has to be the worst contract on the Nuggets. Why resign him if they aren't going to play him?

Re: Worst Contract on the Nuggets
Maybe we pay him for nothing, but at least there is no player which we not signed because of D-Arth deal, and we obviously not going to re-sign him for another year in summer. But I'm feared that deal which maybe prevents us from some ambitious plans is Plumlee deal, despite he is a much more useful player than injured Arthur. His almost $15M per season next two years will maybe damage our ability to get some FA big name before 2020, or to re-sign some of our talented and useful players like Barton, Lyles, Craig, Juancho or Mudiay.

Nah, the worst contract on the Nuggets belongs to Malone, his contract keeps him on this team TOO long !

Well, I agree that Plumlee's contract is way too big and while no player has not been signed (that we know of) because of any contract; the Nuggets definitely needed a backup center and he was the best available IMO.
As for Barton, if the Nuggets wanted him, they should have signed him last year. I suspect they are going to let him walk like they did Gallinari. It'll be a good excuse to make a sign-and-trade for someone that includes some cash and a 2nd like they did for Gallinari & Millsap.
But don't write off some other players. Faried has a contract for next year and I'm OK with that but if they aren't going to play him, they should trade him while his value is better because of 1.5 years left. Chandler & Arthur have player options for next year and if not traded, they'll almost certainly take their option because it seems unlikely anyone will want them on their current contracts.

Re: Worst Contract on the Nuggets
I'd say it's a toss up between Faried and Arthur. Neither player is contributing. Faried is at least capable of providing minutes, but his contract is about 75% higher.

Re: Worst Contract on the Nuggets
I would say that it was a toss up between Chandler and Arthur, with Plumlee a close 3rd. Arthur while struggling this year was very effective last time he got minutes, Chandler is never effective since he stopped caring.

Yeah, I think Chandler is the worst, he's doggin' it and most likely to pick up his option, let's pray his agent is overzealous !!

Re: Worst Contract on the Nuggets
In some ways I think its plumlee because we were literally bidding against ourselves and it will keep the Nugs from added a much needed piece but a rotation quality big at $13m isn't absurd.
Arthur is just a total waste of money but not quite as expensive as Faried. Can't blame the Faried deal though it made sense at the time. The game just changed very quickly to render him obsolete. Chandler deserves an honorable mention as well but he plays (albeit not well). Mudiay is a darkhorse contender. Low dollar amount but the kid is still one of the worst players in the league despite 2.5 years of seasoning. I don't blame them for picking up his option though. Low risk.

Re: Worst Contract on the Nuggets
Can we modify Arthur's contract to that of a coach ?? He has to be frustrated with his lack of PT and we sure could use the roster spot/cap space

Re: Worst Contract on the Nuggets
Chandler is averaging about 13 and 9 since you started this thread...Plumlee is averaging 8 and 8 while being paid more..meanwhile Arthur is pulling $8 Mil to ride the bench.
You can say Chandler wasn't earning his cap figure this year up until recently but Arthur and Plumlee have terrible contracts, no one else would have paid that much for them and neither has a team option. Arthur probably opts in for another $8 mil. On the bright side we won't be able to overpay Arthur with an extension because the Plumlee deal ate too much cap room.

Faried probably an honorable mention since he's due nearly 13/14 and he's been beat out by Lyes...

Chandler won't pick up that option for 1 year $12 mil, he can easily get Plumlee money

With the way he's played so up-n-down this season, I'd be happy to see him walk and put that cap space towards Jokic's extension

This is a good read about how Jefferson and Arthur lead pickup games among the non-rotation players: https://www.denverpost.com/2018/01/01/denver-nuggets-pickup-games-benefit-young-players-veterans/
With the restrictions in place to limit player / coach interactions this is something they probably couldn't do if they were officially coaches and not players.

Sure, that's nice, but during the season there is no restriction on coach-player interaction and during the off-season, very few teams do more than 2-3 days of this kind of activity. Besides, even a 20 year old who makes the NBA, probably already knows most of what they are trying to teach, it's a matter of repetition. If they really need off-season coaching, there are former players and coaches who run private sessions that have proven to be of great value for many players. There are even some veterans that use these people to assist them.
