the problem is now with TJ not in no one else besides Booker can really create their own shot and the offense stagnates, with so many young players player movement isn't good enough to compensate for this.

Doncic/Trae/Sexton or bust.
We really need another ballhandler.

He's playing out of position, though.

Well it's not like the turnovers are a new thing. If he can get to the point he gets double the assists it won't be bad, but not there yet.

15-26, on pace for 30 wins at the half way point. Better record than I thought this team would have without Bledsoe, but I personally don't think we're going to get to 30 this year.

Not without Cannan at least or have Devin suddenly acquire PG skills.

Cannan can at least run the PnR with Len decently enough and seems to be able to kick out to open shooters a lot better than Ulis.

We do need to run some PnR plays for Chriss and not always have him camping out at the corners for the majority of his shots, we aren't utilizing his athleticism very much.

Quese had a decent first half, but man he shot way too much for a guy shooting as poorly as he did in the second half. Missed 2-3 dunks again tonight too, he really needs to get that figured out. Not bad contribution on the stat sheet outside of scoring though, and he had a few possessions where he did a good job staying in front of guards on switches.

Bender didn't shoot well, although at least one 3 was half way down before coming out. I liked to see him putting the ball down and posting up a bit more, but he needs to work on getting more lift on that hook shot. Definitely liked some of the passes he pulled out tonight too. Nice to see him and Quese on the court together a little bit tonight too.

Jackson was up and down as usual. He does a pretty good job of getting to the rim, but he is really bad at finishing with contact. Hopefully that starts to correct itself as he gets strong. He's definitely not ready to attack against Kawhi, he picked Jackson's pocket for 2 easy steals tonight. Felt like he did a pretty decent job defending Kawhi when he was on him though.

We definitely missed having a guy outside of Booker that can be a consistent scorer in TJ. Seems like Quese tried to fill that void a bit, but he shot poorly tonight despite shooting pretty well the last few games. We missed Canaan a lot tonight too, Ulis was a pest on-ball on defense but basically a non-factor on offense.

Not sure how many more games I can watch with Ulis as the starting PG, I get he is Bookers buddy and all but he is just too small to be in the NBA. At that size you have to be exceptional at something to stay in the league, shooting, passing, athlete, something and he just isnt, he is average to below average at everything.

What surprises me is how badly he is shooting the 3 despite being wide open.

Is being undersized causing him to be a bit fatigued because he has to work that much harder?

I have been saying this about Ulis for a while now. He is not an NBA player. We can even get better back ups. He is a nice kid, and he had a nice run, but the NBA has figured him out and it wasn’t even that hard. I know he is young, but his flaws are not things age, improved skills or experience can fix.

He's been bad most of the season.

He just LOVES dribbling and dominating the shot clock. Never seen someone use up the shot clock so poorly.... second worst only to Mike James.

Yup, Mugsy Bogues was extremely quick and used his size and quickness to break defenses. So did Spud Webb.... and Isaiah Thomas showing you need elite skills to truly be an impact player when you're under sized.

But Ulis?

Not bad passer.... bad for his size.
Meh shooter.... really bad for his size.
Slow ball mover and offense initiator..... bad for any size... and horrific for someone with already limited impact.

He needs to be ultra-quick in transition forcing teams to go small on him...
He needs to be an elite play maker, who breaks defense inside the arc.... rather than this 5'8 guy over dribbling on top of the arc and doing NOTHING.

I've been thinking about this for a while now...

is Bender even a better player or prospect than Bertans? Atleast for the position he is supposed to play.

Bertans looks way more athletic... he's not as wide or long as Bender, but he is quick and athletic.

And he can nail the 3pt shot... and put the ball on the floor.

I'm starting to think Bender should be playing back to the ring half the game... who can make passes inside to outside and then slide out for a 3pt shot every now and then.... He can make nice passes, can dribble etc.
If he puts on 20 pounds, get stronger legs... he can play Center... a versatile quick Center, rather than a passive tall wing man.

Because he is too passive to play the All-Rounder, maybe a miracle will happen and he grows some balls one day.

Chriss atleast has improved his fouling habit, he may reach 20-25 mpg eventually since he's really avoiding stupid fouls these days.
