Let's face it. Monk is freaking terrible. Give him an offseason to work on his game and next year we'll see if he's an NBA player or not.
giving up on rookies before the all-star break woooo

If he was any good he would have earned a rotation spot in that three minutes of garbage time.

Like, I don't get what people expect from 19 year olds that we draft and then completely ignore because we are too busy trying to figure out how to win 38 games with Carter-Williams and because our coaching staff literally doesn't believe in developing players.

I expected him to play with some fire and make open 3s. Give the coaches a reason to want to play you. I’m cheering Monk on. Just saying that he made garbage time look like trash disposal day. There was even a point where he just let his man blow by him for a easy layup like he was a statue and the whole bench just kinda got on him about it as he threw his arms up walking off.

Monk was projected as a top 5 pick most of the year. To be disappointed is expected right now. He's just an awful NBA player on both sides of the court. He will get there, but he's not in high school or at Kentucky where he has the green light every time he touches the ball or is playing alongside elite level players who can somewhat mask his defensive bull. He has a ton to learn. And unlike Vonleh who had no elite aspect coming out of college this kid can shoot. He will get where he needs to be in 2 or 3 years

Getting tired of this 19 year old excuse as well. Unless Monk gets the ball he looks disinterested. Damn sure don't see Donovan Mitchell or even Luke freaking Kennard who hasn't played defense a day in his life look that way. At least they give effort. Kid looks like he thinks he has Kobe Bryant God given gifts but he plays like a very very poor man's Jamal Crawford

Lol Donovan Mitchell and Luke Kennard are 21 years old.

Monk’s rookie season so far kinda do remind me of Jamal Crawford’s rookie season to be honest now that I think about it. I’m old enough to remember back then and I liked Crawford coming out of college.

Monk turns 20 in less than a month. He's just sooooo bad defensively. He's going to have to become a light Curry or Harden player offensively to make up for his defensive ordeals. Same way with Frank. Except Frank has no hope he's garbage

We should have drafted Justin Jackson and traded back. You win, WIN with the TAR HEEL.

I think we’re still traumatized by the flashbacks of Hairston.

That's all it is.

Monk isn't the guy who dropped 20 or whatever in a quarter and he's also a kid who could care less about showing 'fire' in garbage time at the end of a road trip. He's something in between. Even guys like Dennis Smith look completely lost out there. Why's it strange to say that a rookie looks lost on a team that looks even more lost?

Do we need a list of players who didn't set the world on fire or would it just be better to setup a support group?

edit: also he's still on corner duty too lol. After watching Graham ISO and Julyan dribble in circles I'm not about to grill him or Bacon for being more focused on Jennifer Lopez than the rim

Awful defensive game from both of the teams tonight. The Lakers are so bad and I just realize how bad is our defense when I see we're so bad defensively against a team like the Lakers. As always, Kemba, Howard and Lamb are good. But I saw so many weaknesses:

Batum is so bad. He's lazy, we get no defense and no offense from him. This guy is so bad, and I always favorited him. 2-9 FG, 0-4 3PT. Silly turnovers. He's really bad.

Kaminsky. OK, you know to throw 3PT's. But come on Frank, do some defense. We allowed so many silly points because of his mistakes, he's also lazy guy on defense. Again he tried to dribble and shot, I don't get it.

Monk - same things said on Kaminsky and Batum. Those three guys are lazy on defense and they do not justify the minutes they get.

I would've bench Batum, reduce Kaminsky minutes and send Monk to G-League.

I admire the people who decided to watch this parody of pro basketball. The first 1/4 was pretty much significant and it's no surprise to read a few comments.

As for Hornets, this team gonna need a whole higher level of energy and defense to get the winning streak they need to come back in play offs talks. And team leaders are supposed to show the way.

this really isn't the game to spotlight a bad defensive effort imo

lakers tried some things and we stayed on them long enough for them to give up. what else you want?
