Rebounding has always been decent.

I haven't seen him make a break through on offense but maybe he's just developing a shot that was always there. When I see him start making plays for others, or delivering his pass on time and actually on the mark I'd say he's broken out. For now he still seems to be playing a little hectic Crazy Rozy.

What's he's proven now though is those recent past comparisons of a future Patrick Beverly player are legit a possibility for him. He can become that type of player.

Everything with Rozier becomes better when he's not running the show. Low key he may be the single player who was most impacted by Hayward's absence. He's got at 60% TS on catch and shoot and has been on a tear recently so probably even better.

Rozier really is a 6'2" 190 pound version of Jaylen Brown. Rozier just dribbles it better but with no more purpose in his dribble. Rozier also shoots FTs.

I’m standing by my Bobby Jackson comparison, high energy scoring guard, quick, active on defense. If his shot is falling at a decent clip, that’s his floor now. Ceiling could be above that.

TRo isn't just active on D, he's exceptional on D. And Jackson didn't play his first NBA game until he was a year older than TRo is now or match TRo's current TS% for a season until he was 28. TRo also rebounds at about a 50% higher rate than Jackson ever did.

Terry still not getting his due on this board.

This is just ridiculous. TRo's rebounding has always been way more than decent for his position. And he's got such a better handle and passing ability than JB (so far) that it's silly. He's actually always had a good shot, but it has taken him some time for it to come through in games (other than in the clutch and in the playoffs), as they've given him so much to master in-game as a young guy with uncertain minutes.

Fortunately, Danny knows a thing or two about player evaluation.

Rozier is still in the process of breaking out, but he's certainly not fool's gold. He has always been able to create space. In my book, Rozier is a top 5 NBA player when it comes to creating space, and he been there since he came into the league. Problem has been that he didn't know what to do with that space.

Last year, he would open up a nice bubble, then proceed to drive into two defenders and take an incredibly difficult layup. This year, he is showing improvements with utilizing his space. My favorite Rozier play right now is when he gets to a an open spot and casually gets his shot off. He has great balance on his jumper, a great release, and overall good mechanics. Rozier's next step is to show he can breakdown a defense and get teammates wide open shots.

On a side note, Smart's shooting mechanics are looking really good these days. The arch on his shot is great, and his release looks really smooth.

TRo has always been a guy who looks like a dynamite scorer - if you just watch video. He is starting to play like that guy. Straight up this guy has breakout potential. You can tell when guys like Van Gundy and the like who don't watch all Celtic game see him.. They are like WTF - where did this guy come from.. Holy ..fin..crap did you see that move.

Guy can ball. If this guy was on the Lakers you wouldn't hear the end of it..

Jaylen Brown is a SG averaging 6 rebounds per game. About the same pace as Rozier playing against second unit guys.

Both shoot 3 at a great rate but are inconsistent players.

Brown is probably the best defender on the team, but Rozier is decent on that end himself.

Rozier has a better dribble, but he's not much more successful with it than JB is with his (this is purely due to JB's first step).

Rozier is a better passer, but I think by now you can see a lot of similarity in the two. Again Rozier is just 6 inches shorter and can dribble.

Wait, why are we comparing Rozier to Jaylen?

I predicted this year would be a breakout year for T-Rozay, and I've always been one of his biggest defenders, so I'm inclined to say it's happening. Whether you call this a "breakout" or steady improvement is largely just semantics. I think this is the year he becomes a solid bench scorer and next year he becomes a 15ppg bench scorer. Not only has he become reasonably efficient this year, at just above league average in offensive rating, he also seems to have figured out when to probe and when to get the team into their sets, and he's getting better at reading the third defender in pick and rolls.

I like him. he's got a high ceiling. His d, shot, and handles have been way better. We got a keeper imo

Well they are both very athletic and dynamite in the open court.. Not a whole lot in common beyond that from what I can tell.

Yeah, good points. Thought of the age thing.. but Bobby Jackson seems like the caliber of player Rozier is right now, his floor, if he stays consistent but doesn’t get any better. You have any advanced stats on his defense?

I don’t know what his ceiling is now, who to compare him to.

Game like this against the Nets were he goes 1-7 is the reason to not getting too excited by Rozier turning the corner. 7-8 games straight on playing really well is a short sample.

Guys like Rozier, Brown, and Smart are not consistent on both ends of the court. Once they are, then we can say they’ve broken out.

Corner has been turned for one. All 3 are significantly better than they once were..specially if you look away from things like PPG and the all around stat sheet.

If any of those 3 guys put up their best numbers, consistently on both ends of the floor, they would be All Stars. Andre Iguodala is one of the best bench players in the NBA. Dude put up 10 and 8 against the Rockets one night, 2 and 7 against the Clippers the next. Does that mean he isn't consistent? Does that mean he still hasn't broken out? JR Smith is another guy..starter on a contender..his points last 6 games? 2, 15, 6, 6, 10, 10.

Rozier and Smart will always have their huge games, their smaller games and their flat out stinkers. It's what NBA role players do, specially ones off the bench and even more so the younger ones..that's where the Kyrie Irving's and the Al Horford's come in.

He's only 23. So he still has a lot of time to improve, even more.

On an oversimplified depth chart, Rozier would be Brown's backup at SG.

I’ve noticed that too recently on the impact Kyrie has had on Rozier and Smart when it comes to finishing around the basket. Both Rozier and Smart are scoring around the basket in ways they hadn’t prior to this year. Kryie is so crafty around the basket with shooting off the wrong foot and scoring with either hand.

Yeah I've seen it from both where it immediately just screams "Kyrie Move". They have both used the quick wrong footers and I have seen Rozier use that long slow strong 2nd step that Kyrie uses at least once a game. It's a really crafty way to throw everybody's timing off.

I buy in as to me it appears as though Kyrie has rubbed off on his down low game. Was a perfect Mentor for Terry. I also have bias opinions of him as I liked him as our pick, was a fan of the Rozier, Harrell Louisville squad.

As many have mentioned, I believe Rozier is Kyrie"s apprentice.

This is good.
