All the Lakers did was stave off the media for 1 day. If you lose to the Kings Tuesday it starts all over.

That's why I said if you lose this game we could've probably seen some crazy BS. That's not an overreaction considering how this team was playing.

The play where Ball passed to Clarkson at the 3 point line and Clarkson up faked and drove to the hoop for the layup..... Ball was credited with an assist. Clarkson dribbled at least 3 times after catching and up faking. Nice to have a home scorekeeper!

They changed the way you score assist a few years ago. You can take a few dribbles I think, don't know the exact limit though

The play where Ball passed to Clarkson at the 3 point line and Clarkson up faked and drove to the hoop for the layup..... Ball was credited with an assist. Clarkson dribbled at least 3 times after catching and up faking. Nice to have a home scorekeeper!

They changed the way you score assist a few years ago. You can take a few dribbles I think, don't know the exact limit though

In Europe they changed the rules some more....if you pass to a guy under the rim let's say, guy is fouled but doesn't make the shot, but shoots two free throws. If he makes at least one of them, guy who passed him the ball gets an assist.


Too bad this rule wasn't implemented in the Kobe era, he would have had at least 8 apg. Kobe always got assists for easy baskets under the rim for the bigs, but often times the bigs were hacked and sent to the FT line, while guys like Lebron get their assists passing on the perimeter to the open shooters.

To be fair, I don't know if the rule has been implemented to all leagues regarding club play. I couldn't find anything.

But it has been at Eurobasket 2017, that one I know for sure, I followed the tournament.

Great win. Ball Movement Ball Movement Ball Movement. and just great Ball Movement. that one stretch where Lopez found Ingram for the dunk that was great. we've been looking for that all season. Ingram looked great tonight. Lopez shot the three great. and Lonzo looked great.

Ok just watched the replay. Things I liked:

1. Uptempo - less isos and kept the ball moving; easy baskets from fastbreaks

2. Attacked inside - finally realized they're one of the lengthiest teams in the league and used it to their advantage

3. Making plays for others

4. Kept things simple - no fancy streetball moves; pump fakes to drives, drive and dish, drive and drop

It's starting to get like Hockey.... if a score is made they deconstruct the play to award an assist to someone. In this case Clarkson up faked, jab stepped and then drove from 2 feet behind the 3 point line. I've noticed some "creeping" of the statistic in recent years but until this game I hadn't watched the feed with a game tracker in a while. This one jumped out as a fairly liberal interpretation.
