What makes people think Miami would trade Dragic? They are currently the 5 seed and a half game out of the 4 seed. Sure it's pretty tight in the conference but why would a team a half game out of HCA in the first round trade their best player?

Well in my scenario they get a player that fits their other players range a bit better, and since he's flashier he may attract other players. Kemba Walker is also the better scorer, and the heat our 3rd last in points scored per game. Other than a three team trade I can't see the Heat trading Dragic unless they felt they were improving for this year.

Well, plus Whiteside has been out half the year and they are still 1/2 game out of 4 seed. Since he got back they are 5-1. Now they go into the second half where they finished 30-11 last year. I don't expect that but a top 4 seed isn't out of the question if they stay healthy.

Here were a couple of suggestions from the Hornets board, though I'm for keeping our picks and young guys...

Anyone got any reasonable Kemba trade ideas? Obviously it wouldn't be ideal to trade him, but that is probably what would give us the best odds to lose at this point. I do not think we should trade him unless we get the right offer of course

There have been several OK ideas mentioned so far. I thought that the Knicks trade mentioned not long ago was OK. Phoenix could be a good partner.

The Suns were reportedly interested in trading Jackson for Kyrie till they learned that Kyrie wouldn’t resign in Phoenix so I can see them offering the same for Kemba.

The Bucks pick, and Heat pick plus Josh Jackson and Tyler Ulis for Kemba Walker seems like a decent return.

Would this be in the ball park for a Kemba Walker trade to Phoenix:

Phoenix 2018, Miami 2018, Milwaukee 2018, Brandon Knight and Dragan Bender.

Seems like an overreaction to career games by both Bender and Jackson in the same night. It was an impressive win without monster games from Book or Warren, but we've got still 14 games between now and the trade deadline. Let's see if Chriss keeps up his recent play and Bender and Jackson can put together a few games contributing around this level before we start anointing ourselves "too good for a top 8 pick" when we're currently at the 8th worst win percentage. Not to mention Chicago has played well recently and has Lavine coming back, Dallas is starting to play a bit better, and Memphis still has Conley coming back unless they blow things up in the next 30 days, so there's still plenty of potential for movement at the bottom.

Not to say we shouldn't put feelers out there and grab someone on the cheap if possible, but I just want more consistency before we start saying we're ready for the playoffs.

I agree and think that we shouldnt jump the gun as we have just finished one of the easiest parts of our schedule. We need more talent as a team and I really dont see a lot of promising young players out that there fit our needs without costing us more talent.

Yeah the math of a playoff run just doesn't add up. Again I'm not against making a move that can help now AND later and I'm encouraged by the growth of this team. But to make a splash move then publicly come out and say you made that move to make a run at the playoffs seems to be setting yourself up for failure. Heck they could make a move play decent basketball (say .550 winning percentage) and still finish 9th or 10th out West. Why put added and unnecessary pressure on a young team.

There are far more teams chasing wing players -- shooting guards/small forwards -- than quality talent available at those positions. Drafts have been lean on those spots in recent years, and they're in great demand now.

Detroit, New Orleans, New York and Portland are a few of the teams most interested in upgrades, but the true list is much longer.... ... Teams are targeting the availability of Brooklyn's DeMarre Carroll, Utah's Alec Burks, Orlando's Evan Fournier and Atlanta's Kent Bazemore, among others. The Lakers have made it clear that Clarkson, Julius Randle and Larry Nance are available.

Atlanta is pushing to unload veterans and gather more draft picks and young players. Bazemore, Ersan Ilyasova and Marco Belinelli are expendable.

The Bulls are still planning to trade forward Nikola Mirotic, which can't happen until Jan. 15 or without his permission, based on his contract. Mirotic has been intrigued with the Utah Jazz, whose coach, Quin Snyder, has a reputation for maximizing offensive talent.

Memphis wants to find a first-round pick for Tyreke Evans, but that is likely to prove difficult. The Grizzlies have missed in several drafts on first-rounders, including the waiving of 2015 No. 17 pick Wade Baldwin, and need to replenish their stock of picks. As a rental on an expiring deal, it is hard to imagine Evans delivering that kind of a return.

So far, New Orleans is determined to re-sign center DeMarcus Cousins and hasn't invited trade offers on him.

Teams are curious to study Memphis' plans with center Marc Gasol, but so far, the Grizzlies say they're planning to keep him.

He is an scorer. Kind on Lou Williams/Jamal Crawford but a little bit less talented. Not good defensively, but not terrible.
I don't like the fit here, I wouldn't trade for him.

I'm a hard pass as well. I don't see there being a big advantage to playing Clarkson next to Booker as opposed to Daniels or Reed. And then you consider that he and BK are pretty similar as player-types, and we don't want to be stuck with both.

I don't think we should make any trade deadline moves outside of of Monroe unless a legit star at one of our positions of need becomes available. The names that are out there don't really do much for our team unfortunately. Alex Len clearly hopped into the delorean with doc brown and went back to 2014. I keep wondering to myself...what can Alex Len do that Bamba wont be able to from day 1, I guess maybe set a better screen? Chriss is still Chriss, It's nice to seem him back to his old self but he's still a mental midget in terms of basketball. His couple of games were great but lets be honest, that game saving block he had was a defensive brain fart on his part luckily his athleticism and a poorly thrown ball enabled him to get to save face. I dunno, I'm still not very high on him.
Point being we need to get these kids as much playing time as possible to figure out what we have going forward. I'm not condoning tanking at all but this is the last year we are going to have expecting to not make the playoffs. Lets get our young guys minutes (JJ Ulis Bender Reed Chriss) and see what happens this summer.

A guy I like a lot is Bazemore if the Suns could unload Knight in the deal.

Possibly Knight, MIA 1st for Bazemore? Probably not enough given the apparent dearth in the wing market.
