Whittaker is out and now it's Luke vs Yoel for the interim belt.

That was the only good fight on the card. UFC should make it not a PPV anymore, this is FS1 or FOX kind of card.

Agreed. These cards seem to be stretched pretty thin to start off the year. Maybe they should start focusing on quality instead of quantity of cards. This is going to be about 3 straight cards that were very top heavy and had no depth.

They had a great run of quality fights the last half of the year. It fizzled out for the New Year's event. And they haven't really recovered from frontloading their talent. It goes in cycles. They are in a bit of a down one right now. But there are still some sneaky good fights/fighters in there like Burgos-Kattar, Gillespie, Tuivasa, Usman, Anders, etc. It's just odd they are being put so high on cards. They are presuming, I think incorrectly, the average viewer knows who the hell they are. That's the product of making their events so fractured.

Ya when Mark Hunt vs Curtis Blades is your co-main event you know the card is weak. And its not like its a really main event heavy fight either like if it was some massive super fight. Its Rockhold vs Romero for interim title. This card wouldve been perfect for a Fox card. The interim title up for grabs makes it better than an FS1 card, but its still not good enough for a PPV. These cards are really getting watered down.

Yeah I have no hype for this card. Though the least hyped cards end up being exciting, so let's hope that trend continues.

I usually go watch the PPVs at Gators Dockside. I wonder if they'll even be showing this one.

They're going to kill somebody with these short notice fights and the weight cuts.

Romero had how long to prepare for this fight? Previously, this was a fighter issue but now the UFC is asking too much of the fighters to cut down in 3-4 weeks like this. Absolutely dreadful.

They're destroying this thing.

Per Helwani, they are still negotiating with Rockhold to take the fight with a missed weight Romero.

And it's agreed. Hope Rockhold extorted a serious pay day.

UFC is going downhill fast. McGregor out untill God knows when, Jones getting popped or arrested every year, fighters getting injured in training or missing weight on the regular causing fights to either be cancelled or irrelevant.

The weight cutting issue has to be dealt with for the sports legitimacy and the fighters health.

My proposal would be approximately 72 hours (6-8pm local time Wednesday) before the fight you have to be within 3% of weight. If not you just forfeited a third of your purse. You lose another third if you miss weight late Friday afternoon at the official weigh in (no more early morning weigh ins with a for show weigh in later). Lastly approximately 90 minutes before fighters enter the cage they get weighed one last time where they can't be more than 3% overweight or they lose a third of their purse. If you miss two or more of the required weigh ins your next two fights are automatically at the next weight division up.

These guys almost killing themselves to make weight is bad for us as fans and more importantly terrible for their health. Nobody should be losing 6-7% of their body weight 36 hours before they fight. My proposals would make it much more likely that people would fight at their natural weight. It can't prevent two weight cuts and guys going into the cage drained but after they get smashed by guys who didn't go that route the problem would fix itself.

Whittaker pulled out on 1/13. Romero deserves a break here (despite him being a freaking cheater most of the time). It takes a serious diet over the course of weeks to get these guys to this weight and pushing fighters to fight on such short notice is **** dangerous as hell.

This isn't Johny all over again, this is a guy who got asked to sprint to make a weight in 4 weeks to save a card. Cyborg just got put into the same spot as Yoel did.
