RIght. MD already has an account there. Honestly, I'm annoyed w/ Bittrex and Binance right now. Their wallets are always down. They certainly were when ADA and Sia were rising fast you were stuck on those exchanges. I didn't really care because I don't normally do swing trades as its too stressful (case and point) BUT, if I did...whoa I would have been so irritated. You just never know when they are going to hold you. The wallet maintenance happens all the time on these major exchanges.
When I first bought Iota on Biance, I had to do it via a friend - paypal transfer. Then, I couldn't deposit into my Binance Iota wallet for over a month due to, you guessed it, 'wallet maintenance.
My point is, to anyone getting into this: This technology is sooooooo young. Do not expect smoothness or functionality. Cultivate patience. And work toward soft wallets off the exchanges unless you are actively trading. Use something like Blockfolio (though, I've heard they track your every move and I'm not really that big a fan of more monitoring) or Cointracking to monitor your investments - Cointracking actually is quite amazing as it will help you create a tax strategy and pre-accountant itinerary. And, when you can, and when it works for you soft wallets or your hardware wallets with your re-sell (if you have a desire to) strategy in mind and ready to roll-out. AND, be careful with where you buy a hardware wallet: DO NOT buy a resale or refurbished wallet. A young man just lost his $34,000 portfolio because someone conned him w/ a resell through some techno-trickery.
You got that right about the tech. For those who are in the regular market it's nothing like that where it's simple to just buy and sell. I'm in IT and I've had a hard time figuring all this out. I am only in XRP right now, dipped my toe in and it's all still in Binance. When I'm done buying I'll definitely get it out of there and into a wallet. I've heard the same thing about hardware wallets. Be careful where you buy from. The Ledger Nano S is highly recommended and it's on Amazon. But it's sold on Amazon by 3rd party sellers so I'd be leary about that. Just because something is on Amazon doesn't mean it's legit. Amazon has been courting Chinese vendors big time. And with that comes a lot of fake/used ****. I'd buy directly from the manufacturer if I bought a hardware wallet.
And some point this will all shake out and will probably be more like a regular stock market system. But it sure isn't now.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Exactly. It's fun trying to figure it all out and if you bet on the right horse(s) you could turn a few hundred into a few thousand. And if I lose it, well I can lose it on the craps table in an hour (or less).

You're totally welcome. I am here in service and offering info on what I've learned. Best of luck!
Also, I got my first gpu rig up and running today. Big day for me. By the end of the week, I'll have 5 (potentially 7 cards soon) NVidia 1070's mining the LyraREv2 script getting Verge for the time being. Will be looking at a few other coins as well. The mining adventure is just as big an adventure (and, frankly, pain in the a@@) as the straight trading.

I've been doing a deep dive on crypto research the past few days while waiting for my coinbase bank transfer to go through and exchanges like binance to allow new users, but I second Cardano and Oyster Pearl. Those projects look really good. I also have been planning on reading up on substratum.

Do you guys think that a crypto will ever hit 20k or even do as well as Bitcoin was doing at its peak?

Very happy with the early returns on my weed stocks. They rebounded really nicely to the Sessions news, made it a great time to buy.

Yeah, I checked in on them after the post and lots of red. Amazing how this stuff swings. I should be smarter though and just forget it about for a couple of months and check back in, but it was so fun seeing them blow up yesterday.

Mine are actually the first stocks I ever bought so I'm F5-ing like crazy (back in the green btw)

I threw $50 at Coinbase over Xmas. I can lose that without too much pain. I’m not going to get rich, but it’ll be fun to follow and allows me to talk about being in on crypto. My 46 year old brain doesn’t understand why there are so many to invest in. What’s the future of Ripple, Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc. I assume the future isn’t many crypto currency, but one or two. Perhaps I don’t understand the difference between the many crypto currencies. I see it as a race to make money by betting on a winner. At some point, a winner will be chosen as what many will want to use. How am I seeing this wrong?

What did you buy on Coinbase or haven't you made a purchase yet?

Me? I split $50 up between all four offerings. Boring amount, but I’m in, mentally invested, and learning. Fun. No wallet, all on Coinbase. A wallet cost more than the amount I own. If I keep putting $ in, I’ll get one. Now, it’s just an experiment.

You can still get a wallet for free (e.g. Blockchain.info) but it will not be cold storage type wallet (e.g. Trezor). However, since you own the keys you're in control and is much safer than leaving it on Coinbase. Heads up if you decide to increase your investment and want to move to a safer option

I don't know how it works with all coins, I way too new but I know with Ripple a wallet will lock up 20 coins so you basically lose them. I heard something about this might be lowered to perhaps 10, maybe less so if you have Ripple and want to get a wallet, even a free one, keep that in mind.

If I had my retirement in crypto, perhaps I’d move it to a wallet.

Yeah for small amounts and/or if you are still buying it's fine to leave it in an exchange. I have my XRP in Binance, I've been accumulating it and I'm thinking about dabbling in one or two more. At some point I'll be done buying and I'll move it offline.
