2018 Free Agency

Post#1 » by patryk7754 » Sun Dec 31, 2017 1:53 pm

Might as well complete the trifecta and make the free agency thread.

Dez Bryant leaving the Cowboys has been gaining traction slowly. I mentioned that I think he'd be out but via trade. I've read a couple stories saying he might be cut.

I think the biggest guarantee is the Muhammad Wilkerson is out of NY. Clearly, he has all the talent in the world but his behavior in NY this season has been offputting. I don't think he'll sign a contract close to what he did a couple years ago, so I think it'll be easy to overlook his antics.

I think a team to look out for is the Broncos. They will most likely be taking another 1st round QB. Elway might consider a soft reboot. Last season they got rid of T.J Ward. They might be willing to part ways with some older defensive players. Aqib Talib might be a goner.

With all these high caliber QBs going to be available this off-season, what do you guys think the chances are we bring in a QB for a year or two to let Trubisky continue to learn. Probably 0 chance it happens but it was just a thought that popped into my head. If it would happen it'd probably be Alex Smith (assuming he's cut)

Zero chance. Back up QB is a realistic conversation tho.

None of them would want to sign knowing that they're not the future of the franchise

Agreed.

As far as this thread, I would say lets go for Watkins. Legitimate #1 even if he didn't have a big year for the Rams he seemed to open things up and help with Goff's development.

Upcoming Kansas City Chiefs UFA's. Albert Wilson was their WR2 this season. He finished the season with something like 550 yards and 3 TD's. Downside is he is one of those undersized WR's Image

I'm offering Allen Robinson whatever money he wants. The most complete WR available.

Bennie Logan is the only one that interests me but we don't really need him.

With how bad the Ravens offense was this past season, there's a chance there are some changes made which could include Jeremy Maclin. He played under Nagy so he might come here

I'd have no problem giving Robinson multiple years even with the ACL tear. He put up 1400 yards with Blake freaking Bortles as his QB and no run game. He's a complete WR who wins at every level of the field and one of the best jump ball players in the game.

Robinson would be a home run addition. I'd offer 3-4 years easily.

Get Robinson.
Re-sign Wright or draft a WR.
Get Meredith back healthy.
+Inman

All of a sudden, things are looking up weapons wise.

Not to mention Nagy opening up the playbook for Cohen and developing Sheehan.

It could workout.

I'd also like Pace to draft a speed WR to take the top off the defense.

I want him as well but it would be a bad strategy to "overpay" for him. our top two receivers (White and Merideth) are coming off serious injuries so we should be more cautious about signing someone who is coming off an ACL injury especially since the chances of him tearing his other ACL are high. In addition, we could get him for 7/8 mil giving us the opportunity to get another top WR like Landry.

I think this off-season is finally the off-season Pace makes "front page" signings. This time around, if the team is disappointing it'll be on Pace since he's on his second HC. We clearly got the defense to compete, great o-line and run game, and hopefully the QB of the future. We have to needs this off-season WRs and turnover creators. Year by year, our "needs" list has gotten smaller and smaller this off-season its been the smallest since even before Pace. Time to go get the big names.

The 49ers may be a roadblock for us in getting who we need. They also need a WR and a secondary guy. San Fran is probably a more attractive destination and they have a crazy amount of money to spend so Lynch and Pace may be going head-to-head this off-season.

Nobody in NFL history has more than 350 catches in their first 4 years. Landry has 400.

He's 25 and he's been productive as heck for every season of his career. Very little risk there.

That's $14.5m per year. Here is the upcoming 2018 highest paid WR's under contract. Serious question, is Landry a top 5 WR?Image
