I think / hope Snell has positive value, moreso than a 3rd string big like Boban, but am concerned that if we don't move him soon he could end up yet another overpaid role player who prevents us from making bigger acquisitions.

Also what do we think about Gery linking us to Chandler again?

Maybe something has changed since the Bledsoe trade where we either value him more or the Suns value him less?

Teletovic's contract being insured might make him more enticing to Phoenix in theory at least. But conversely that makes the salary hit worse for us.

Isn’t it obvious we should get Bogut and put Vaughn in the D League (forget Gatorade League)? If that’s possible.
I admit to being a terrible judge of talent and having minimal knowledge of the game of basketball.

Give me a big who isn't completely washed up and slow/ill-suited for the modern NBA.

The more we tread water the more I think we make a big move. LED are trying to sell tix to the new arena. The arena itself is a selling point, Giannis is a selling point but at the end of the day they really need some playoff success. If it looks like we're heading for that 5-8 seed first round playoff loss road again a move will be made. Less than a month till the deadline.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Which leaves me to believe that we are waiting until Snell can be traded.

As for MD's allusion, the trade deadline is February 8th at 2pm central time.

If Kyler is to be believed, we might have to include Brogdon + Thon to get Deandre Jordan.

The Bucks do have some promising youth in last year’s rookie of the year Malcolm Brogdon (who they like a lot) and the blossoming Thon Maker.

League sources have pegged one or both as needing to be included in anything involving a big-name player, which may be why the Bucks are still on the outside looking in.

Based on Woj's list of teams looking for a wing, maybe Snell could net us KOQ or Boban or Ed Davis.

Certainly could involve other pieces too.

There are far more teams chasing wing players -- shooting guards/small forwards -- than quality talent available at those positions. Drafts have been lean on those spots in recent years, and they're in great demand now.

Detroit, New Orleans, New York and Portland are a few of the teams most interested in upgrades, but the true list is much longer.

I am not at all opposed to trading Snell for an upgrade but trading a perfect-fit role player on a very reasonable contract for some rotation back-up big is just such a ridiculously short-sighted move. You're just trying to plug one hole (backup C) in the sinking ship by creating another one (shooting). Boban? An NBA dinosaur whose body can't handle playing more than 10 MPG?

C'mon.

I know you and I have discussed this, and I am of the opinion Snell got a perfectly fine market value contract and has neutral value, but I don't think we would skip a beat if Sterling got all of Snells minutes. May not be as efficient, but the production should equal out.

That's the thing with these really low volume players, I think it artificially inflates their value because you keep thinking "if they can do higher volume, what a value", but Snell has REDUCED his volume so far this year.

Personally, wouldn't think twice if someone wanted him in a deal to provide a little extra value other than it seems Giannis and the guys really like him.

BL, this directed to me? If so, I wasn't commenting on that trade proposal, just a larger point around Snelly boy. If not me, then disregard.

Exactly. If Snell is gonna be a main piece in a DeAndre Jordan deal? Sure. For dime-a-dozen rotation bigs in a trade market that is practically dried up for traditional centers? Gross.

I dont think any poster would have a problem with trading anyone outside of giannis as long as there is a good return but the point made in the post that you quoted was that it was an awful return and i wholeheartedly agree.

Just going to spitball some trades quasi off the top of my head;
NYK: Snell, Vaughn
MKE: Lee, Willy

CHA: Snell, Wilson, Vaughn
MKE: Zeller (or maybe add a Mirza/MKG swap in there too)

Maybe a
SAC: Snell, Mirza
MKE: Randolph, VC

Those are all things I would think about where I would include Snell...I have to admit the last one is more of a "kind of helps us now" but more freeing up contracts. Again, that was not stuff I put a lot of thought into for either side.

Yeah, fair point, I should have trimmed everything after the first part. It was much more about discussing Snell than the return from my perspective.
