What are you basing that on? Last year he was 6th in PPG (with a third of a point separating him from 9th), he would've been about 8th the year before that, etc. Based on pure pts + efficiency, he probably doesn't crack the top 20 or 25 over the past 5 seasons.

In any case, that just shows that isn't the right or stat to be looking at for his success. Lots of guys who are their team's first options and can score well at the NCAA aren't even d-league fodder.

Fultz is the first college basketball player in a quarter-century to average 23 points, five rebounds and five assists per game, and the only high-major player in the last half-century to do so.

At 6-5 with a 6-10 wingspan, Fultz has prototypical size for the lead-guard position. He’s a true three-level scorer. Fultz hit 57 percent of his shots around the rim this season in halfcourt settings, a strong number for a high-major guard. Possessing good vertical explosiveness to pair with preternatural body control, Fultz is equally adept at the acrobatic finish as he is at thunderously finishing above the rim.

To get there, Fultz is a maestro in the pick-and-roll. He has a good first step, as well as a great understanding of exactly how to shield defenders with his body by either keeping them on his hip or at his back. He averaged the eighth-most points per game in pick-and-roll situations in college basketball, and he was the only player in the top 30 of that metric to do it at a one-plus point-per-possession clip.

Not only does he finish at the rim, but he also is above average in the midrange and on floaters from eight to 12 feet out. Finally, Fultz is adept at scoring from deep, hitting 41.3 percent of his 3s. He finished in the 70th percentile in shooting off the dribble, and in the 88th percentile shooting off the catch, showcasing tremendous balance and the ability to get his shot off from basically any spot on the floor.

Along with that elite scoring skill, Fultz is terrific at creating separation from his man, owing to quickness, a tight handle, the aforementioned body control and a creativity that is rarely seen in young players. That creativity also lends itself to his most underrated skill, which is that of his passing. Fultz finished in the top 20 in assist rate this season despite being surrounded by players who shot 28.6 percent in Pac-12 play from 3-point range. He’s a willing creator for others, who finds small creases for dump offs and kick-outs.

He’s an effective rebounder for the position, and he's capable of playing off-the-ball on offense. In spot-up situations, Fultz, hit shots at a 52.1 effective field goal percentage clip, an above-average level. He also has something of a burgeoning post-up game for a weapon against smaller defenders, is a smart distributor in transition and doesn’t turn the ball over a ton for what is his astronomical usage rate (a 13.4 turnover rate).

Overall, Fultz is the best offensive prospect in the draft and the most complete offensive guard to enter the league in at least the last five years.

Not sure if this article explains Fultz having the right combination of tools to be considered having something elite.

Hmm would be annoying if his first game is in front of people who don't really know how massive it is he's playing in London but a game is a game.

I guess he'll play with second unit. Which I'm totally fine with.

He should see some time with either Bayless and TJ at the backcourt. More with Bay, I hope.

I think Fultz will probably be the first guy off the bench that comes in to relieve Redick usually around with around 8 mins left in the 1st quarter. At the moment that is TJ but it makes much more sense for that to be Markelle. TJ would then come in when Saric goes out and Simmons moves to the 4 spot.

I actually see TJ's minutes reducing considerably once Markelle comes back... which would be a bit of a shame.

But you risk having TJ-Ben-Fultz trio that seems to be an overlapping of ball handlers with questionable outside shooting.

Wouldn't be altogether different from when we have TJ-Ben and Bayless on the court which is what currently happens looking at previous games. Fultz is a definite upgrade over Bayless.

08:01 [PHI] Redick Substitution replaced by McConnell
06:03 [PHI] Embiid Substitution replaced by Bayless
06:03 [PHI] Saric Substitution replaced by Johnson

So basically half way through the 1st quarter we usually have a lineup of Johnson, Simmons, Covington, Bayless and McConnell. Replace Bayless with Fultz and that lineup looks much better. Fultz can play off ball and there are going to be lots of times with the shot clock running down that the ball will end up in Fultz hand needing him to create a jumper.

Expecting baby steps, really just wanna see flashes of what his game will be later on and improvement in his shot form and confidence. Also good defense would be the icing on the cake. Anything more would be a bonus.

All I want to see is his shot back and to see him confidently chucking the ball. I want to see a little bit of cockiness and aggression from him offensively. Other than that I liked what I saw from him in terms of his defense, hustle, willingness to move the ball earlier this season. He did show he can be a team player when his shot is off or he is not right. However, for my sanity I just want to see him come out knock down a 3 pointer or two with confidence and show me he can make a free throw without giving me heart palpitations. :P

I would like for him to decrease the mins of the whole JJ, TJ, and Bayless combo meal. Meaning a few mins from all of them instead of just TJ. Really, they all need to be playing less mins, especially JJ who is playing a career high in mins.

Since he is coming off the bench, I would love to see him decrease all 3 of these guys mins by at least 5 mins. None of them have the potential on D that Fultz can bring to the table, it would be a welcome change to not see our guards get destroyed over and over, especially at the end of games.

Is he mocking Amir ? Does Amir shoot like that from 3 ? If so, no wonder he can't shoot to save his life. Ha.

Markelle Fultz does not have the mindset to win in the NBA. I hate hot takes, but this guy needs to start taking his profession a little more seriously. Markelle Fultz has no room to mock someone else's shot. Something about him rubs me the wrong way.

Same with Embiid?

I just calmed myself down - the kid's shot looked pretty smoothe in practice last week. I got myself worked up over nothing.

I think he may be trolling us?

He should be using his time to get good reps in. His shot is terrible.
