Pistons Pursued Trade For Evan Fournier

To me trading Fournier for Jackson is a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) move. Jackson’s had one too many injuries, isn’t effective and was a locker room problem. (KD and Westbrook hated him in OKC, along with everyone else). Yes, we’d still get a high draft pick with him, and I’m not a fan of Fournier but he is a better player and a more valuable trade piece. We need either a young player or draft pick for him. If Stan wants him, take Vuc back with Fournier and send us Andre Drummond back.

I'm not interested in any trade with Detroit. They've got nothing of value that would interest me outside of Harris and even then you already have Gordon and Issac.

For the pro-tankers, the benefits of Jackson are:
1) short term the team will be terrible ensuring a high draft pick
2) This forces Orlando to move Payton
3) Jackson would be a mentor to Trae Young, ensuring the rookie would not be over his head.

Really this trade would be about the 2020/21 season, which is quite sad really

I wonder what the intended backcourt would look like in the minds of management if we traded Fournier?

Are we clearing room for Simmons to become the starting SG? Or making room for Hezonja? What happens when Ross comes back? And are we looking to trade for another SG in return?

Also, I'm still curious why Fournier ends up as the odd man out. I've heard people say it's because he has value, but considering this has been touted as an 'evaluation' season, and WeHam have mentioned several times they want to see how the players fit and work together, for Fournier to be the first name to come up it suggests that maybe they don't think he fits with the rest of the team. Which might add some fuel to the whole 'conflict' narrative.

part of it from the fan base is because he hasnt become better than a #3 scorer. Harris was always mentioned to move to, because he didnt develop into a superstar. On a team starved for talent, its surprising that the fan base wants to jettison anyone that doesnt become a star.

Evaluation season is a more subtle way of saying tanking/experimenting.

Also, new management tend to bring in their own set of players. So I would not be surprised if AG is moved as well.

I dont see DET as a good trade partner this year. I would honestly be calling the Bucks who need a big man and wing scoring. Ship them both Evan and Vuc for a package of Brogdon, their 2018 pick, and filler. Maker is interesting too.

Also, RJ I dont want anywhere near the young guys.

I’m not sure why everyone getting riled up when the article clearly stated that the Pistons were the ones interested in Fournier not the other way around. I’m sure WeHam hung up the phone before SVG could pronounce the second letter from Reggie.

Public interest is really good, let it build Fourniers value higher and possibly start a bidding war.

I have full confidence after the Tobias trade and how the media/fans reacted that WeHam are treading very very carefully dealing with Detroit.

But just for conversation sake the ONLY trade I consider which makes sense on both sides is the following.

And it gets to a point, is it GM Hammond or President Weltman making staff choices? I do not know. Weltman is very active/dominant over GM Hammond to the point I am not sure how much true power Hammond has.
