Cobb's cap hit is 12M this year and I believe 3M if you cut him. I would much rather pay any of the following on a 2 to 3 year deal which I suspect will be about 1/3rd the cost
Kendall Wright
Ryan Grant
John Brown
Marquis Lee
Donte Moncrief
And maybe Jarvis Landry, who won't make what Cobb makes but will be more than the guys I listed. Any of those guys are likely locks to produce what Cobb has put up at a fraction of the cost.
I'm not saying Cobb is a top 10 WR or anything ridiculous like that, but he's better than those guys. Pretty easily too, IMO.
The cap shouldn't be a concern, even with three WR's making $10 million plus next year. It's a one time thing, that will drop as soon as Jordy is a FA/retires after 2018. I'm hesitant cutting a good player, all to save a little bit of money, when you're not really in a position where you have to save money. And like I said earlier, I think Jordy would agree to restructure his deal, worse comes to worse.
