Walt Lemon Jr of Ants is gleague player of the month. we could give poythress a regular contract and then lemon a 2way.

I think he'll get an NBA call up this season. 10-day contracts start in Januaray, so that's usually when standout G-League players start to get signed. Hope we give him a look. Would be a shame to lose him to another team after he's shown that he can perform within the Pacers' system.

I should check the cbafaq to be sure, but I think a 2way would protect us from losing him while not gutting the Ants.

A 2-way contract would mean the Pacers retain his rights, that's correct. However, Lemon is under no obligation to sign it. Indeed, there are some agents who consider 2-ways to be less favorable for the player than being a free agent.

As to gutting the Ants, that's just the nature of the GLeague, I'm afraid. Lemon has played well enough that he'll probably seek to make more money overseas (as he's done in the past) in case he doesn't make an NBA roster. I guess I just don't expect him to play out the season with the Ants in any case.

Watching the Lakers Blazers game as well... I could see Shabazz Napier in a Pacers jersey.

Looks like Niang is getting another shot in Utah.

he's getting a 2-way. wonder why we didn't offer him one now that Poythress has a full contract? saving it for Lemon or someone else?

Maybe Pritchard doesn't see as much potential in him as Bird did.

or that with Leaf and Sabonis on board plus Turner able to play the 4 and maybe Poythress too not to mention Uthoff and whoever else is in Fort Wayne, we just don't need another development 4. a lot has changed since that draft.

Niang just didn't have the speed to keep up when we had him. Maybe that has changed, but I'm glad we signed Moore to the 2-way instead, just seems liek he has more potential.

did I miss that? we had Sumner and Poythress on 2-ways but moved AP up to a regular contract when his 45 days ran out. I never read a story saying we'd signed someone else to the 2nd one.

EDIT. nevermind. I see that news is on wiretap today. I thought we might use it on Lemon but Moore is also a good choice and perhaps the best choice given that Joe Young finally looks like more than a Summer League Flash.

I like Moore a lot. He doesn't have gaudy stats, but he seems like a very good defender, at least at the Gleague level. Very good role player potential. And of course Larry Brown (his coach at SMU) compared him to Derrick McKey, which is a very nice endorsement.

Among the Ants, Lemon and Uthoff are better than him right now, but Moore should have a ready-made place for himself on the Pacers whenever he makes the jump.

Maybe i'm biased, but i'm higher on Moore then Niang too. Maybe it's that Moore seems to be much more of a athletic freak or that i just hate Niang's shooting form.. in any case, i was never a fan and Moore has always intrigued me since summer league.

Excellent article on Moore- https://www.theringer.com/2017/6/21/16077430/2017-nba-draft-sleeper-southern-methodist-university-ben-moore-2d0480528286

Hopefully we'll see Moore at some point this season. Also interested as to whether we'll get a Uthoff sighting.

doubtful. if Uthoff was in this year's plans, he and not Moore would've gotten the 2 way. I don't think we'll see another 4 or 5 this year barring an injury.

Per Woj, the Suns have agreed to buyout Greg Monroe, making him a free agent.

Per Mannix, expect Boston to be a favorite to land Monroe.
