Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Aliza Johnson is a name to watch as a prospect to grab with the Houston pick or our 2nd rounder.
He's the closest I've seen to Draymond in quite some time.

I see less Nene and more LaMarcus Aldridge in Ayton. Nene was a better defender but his offense was tertiary with his jumper being more of what the defense gave him whereas LaMarcus is a guy you throw the ball to every time down with the jumper being a big part of his move set.

I've been thinking about drafting the best big or trading down for the best available big while gaining assets. Reason being is it's too many quality bigs not to grab one.
Another year of mega tanking for Reddish and Barrett in the next class. I want Okogie to declare this season. I see a future two way, high quality starter with him.

Agreed...he's nowhere like Nene in my opinion. Nene never really had any great go to moves...very strong but almost seemed to be stuck to the floor..Ayton is much more flexible and versatile on offense for sure.
I see Nene as more of a Charles Oakley type...
Ayton has a chance to be Shawn Kempish...(again Kemp was a freak...

Trae Young was fun to watch for sure today against TCU.
Than again, I had 2.4k on them to just win, so the game was interesting, and the ball bounced my way at the end of OT.
I have been watching Arizona to watch Deandre Ayton (any chance I get).

I really want D Ayton drafted to this franchise. He seems like a can't miss, cornerstone player.
But when I think of how poorly the last drafted Centers for this team worked out...I get real nervous at the thought of Mike Budenholzer getting his hands in Ayton.
The last Center we drafted:

Walter Tavares was not an NBA caliber player and never will be. His failure to stay in the league had nothing to do with anyone connected with our coaching staff, certainly not Budz.

Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
^ I guess.
But seeing how Dwight struggled here, Tavares struggled here, Bebe was given up on instantly, Adreian was given up on instantly, Pero struggled here...we've had some serious Center issues outside of Horford (and Dedmon?).
Budenholzer has been great with wings and PGs though.

How do you guys think about Zion Williamson? Charles Barkley, Larry Johnson, Ron Artest, fat Bonzi Wells, Ruben Patterson, etc...
I think it is possible that the team potentially spend more than one year in the lottery.

What does that even mean? The only thing Howard is doing differently in CHA is getting better stats and losing more games. And did Budz give up on Noguiera or did Ferry? And I could say, quite emphatically, that Pero had his greatest NBA year here.
Them other guys are not NBA level players. That's Budz' fault?
To @thr3's question on Zion Williamson, I'd like to see him against more competition than the 5'8" future accountants he's beasting on in HS before I make a judgment. I'd also like to see him make a contested shot at some point.

Huh? We had center issues or our centers had issues? If these guys left us and did anything of note then i could see bringing it up but these are just subpar nba players except Dwight. And Dwight did as well here as anywhere recently. Not sure what your angle here is but this argument is either extremely week or i'm not a stable genius.

That accountants line is gold
I might be wrong about the post play being inefficient in a league like today. I think if a player has high BBIQ and technique, with the physical tools, he can still dominate the game from the post by scoring easy baskets, getting the other team in foul trouble, and setting up teammates for open shots either outside or cutting to the rim. That is still invaluable. Ayton might just be that player.
On the other hand, since Tony Ressler has been saying building a championship contender, we need to think about which teams are we going to compete against in 3-5 years. IMO, the main opponents are Boston and Philadelphia. If we can have Ayton this year and another potential-star wing like Reddish/Barrett next year, with some quality complementary pieces (role players) from free agency, we will be ready to contend (already have Schroeder). Boston is built on the golden state model, they have nobody to stop Ayton (Bamba can't do that either). For Philadelphia, Embiid is always an injury concern. Even if he's healthy, we still need a big guy to slow him down and make him play defense.
Need to pick Ayton. He fits well.

Our guy Jaaaaamaliver is in the closet of the 'wants Budz gone' narrative. He hasn't come to terms with it but it rears it's ugly head at times. The "Budz can't coach centers" stuff is just a manifestation of his internal struggle. That was poetic.

I've been excited about the Zion draft for a while now..'19 also includes the likes of Bol Bol, Garland Jr and others...
To answer you Zion comparison I would probably go with a SUPER Rodney Rogers mixed in with some Baron Davis...like if they met and had a baby with an El Niño air flow...might result in a baby Z..

But he kinda did it smoothly...he almost went backdoor on us without me knowing...
Shame shame shame...
