No big secrets....Coutinho was done playing for us...and we had to move on.

A) All this is fine. But why are we still talking about it? Deal is done....we gotta move on.

The English media. It will continue to be talked about until we bring someone in. Pretty typical.

The English media is about as toxic as it gets in this regard.

You get articles about Harry Kane's potential fit with Real Madrid or his candidacy as a 'galactico' every time he plays well, when he's made no indication of wanting to leave. I expect that from Marca, but not BBC Sport. It's like they're begging the Premier League's top players to leave so it makes a big scoop.

People still think we're a selling club even though we haven't sold a major player since Bale, lol.

True that. I think "Footie" is the big story there. Its all about the transfer window. Humans are weird ducks...

""Liverpool could be set to crack open the Philippe Coutinho piggy bank and reinvest some of the £142 million raised from the Brazilian's exit in Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland.

According to the Daily Star, Jurgen Klopp is eyeing Butland as a potential upgrade on current number one Simon Mignolet, who came under fire for his performance in the 3-3 draw at Arsenal before Christmas.

There are also doubts surrounding Loris Karius' long-term future at Anfield, with the German failing to dislodge Mignolet after an error-strewn run in the team last season.

Butland, 24, is believed to have ambitious plans for his career and would be a more affordable target than alternatives such as Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel and Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak.""

All seemed fine right up to the last paragraph. Not really interested in the "cheap guy". To be fair...I know nothing about Butland. I was really disappointed with Karius. Think the bright lights were too much, or something.

It must be a little weird being in Mignolet's shoes. Imagine going to work every day KNOWING your boss thinks your sh** at your job, and is on the phone every day looking for your replacement. He's even brought in a guy or two....but they turned out to be worse than you. So you sit at your job everyday plugging away, just waiting for someone to walk through the door who's better than you.

I call that last paragraph "Tears for the millionaire"

Prefer they spend big on the Brazilian Keeper Allison.

Assuming because he's Brazilian that he isn't a massive oaf when the ball is at his feet, so would I. In Klopp's style you're going to get hairy back-passes more than usual. Disappointed that Karius is so abysmal at this because unlike Mignolet Karius couldn't be pushed around in crowds, LFC's other big goalkeeping Achilles heel.

I was surprised at how bad Karius was. It has often had me wondering. Did Klopp see him play??

I assume he did. I also don't remember tons of commentators saying this guy was garbage. So it seems like he just shrunk from the big-stage. Tried to do/think too much??

Yeah.....I was ready for a 3-0 or 4-0 beatdown......followed by the media lamenting the loss of Liverpool's talisman player.

Just a shame it wasn't 4-1. Pepe is one Mother-F of an arrogant coach. Punching the snot out of his team woulda been nice. Not the nail-biter it turned into. That said.......I got Pepe's undefeated season right here.

And we won 3 super-valuable points towards our CL.

I'm just happy to see Bobby run his socks off without his Brazilian buddy. I was fully expecting a high scoring draw and almost got it. Boy I got sick to my stomach when City got that 3rd goal.

Come on Milan......take Sturridge!! Wonder what we can get for him? Honestly, I'd just like him off the team. But if we could get $18-20 mil out of it, that would be awesome.

Don't hate the guy....but he's always hurt, and I'd just like to move on, and not have him around tempting the coach to play him. Good enough player.....but I pity the coach that hitches his wagon to this guy.

Could've been a legend, he has the skill but is a sicknote - like Carrol.

Standard Liverpool modus operandi. God forbid we ever go on a legit 7-8 game win-streak. Hell no.....gotta throw away 5 or 6 gimmies each year.....don't wanna get too close to winning anything, now do we?

Fair play to Swansea's manager. We've always struggled to beat teams that pack it in against us. It was a good game nonetheless.

Still stunned that Liverpool didn't replace Coutinho. They had 6 months warning so they should have done a lot of scouting. Either ownership is planning on taking the money and running or teams were holding out for ludicrous money.

Regardless, Salah and Firmino are amazing. Mane is in a funk but I still believe. I'm even starting to believe in the back 4. Maybe even Karius. The midfield? Not so much.

Coutinho's versatility (play on the wing and in the midfield) makes it hard to replace. Klopp likely has a list of one and will wait until that player can be signed. Who that is, I am unsure.

Karius' play has been better the last couple of matches. Good to see Klopp ceased his GK rotation. I like the rumors swirling on Roma's Alisson.

I am in complete agreement over the midfield. Keïta will help but another needs to be brought in. If so, will he be a DM? Much depends on whether Can stays or goes, though Gerrard may have slipped in saying Can will leave.
