Also learned that players with 4 years + of NBA service are not eligible for 2 way contracts.

So no Jared Sullinger

I just like locking these guys up cheap for a couple years. Worth the gamble of filling out our bench for dirt cheap.

Yeah, for a team up against the luxury tax guys like Moreland and Buycks have been fantastic finds.

As Kilo alluded to, its a shame Stan can find useful pieces off the streets but throws up all over himself in the free agency period.

I like this move, and I think we should a new two way player. A couple of the guys at Grand Rapids are deserving, but I would prefer to pick up someone else for now.

Maybe this guy will continue to excel and it will allow to hold our roster firm for the season, then we can package one of other pg’s off with either laur or Boban to get another or more , or superior pieces. Buycks and Moreland are looking like they could be the key to making roster moves this summer, both could be legit rotation players if they keep it going, and we get rid of some glut

I guess the question here is was Buycks converted or just signed to a new, standard NBA contract.

What happens if a player outperforms their two-way contract?

Any two-way contract can be converted to a standard (NBA minimum based on years of experience) contract at the team’s option. In lieu of converting a two-way contract to a standard NBA contract, teams and players can negotiate and sign a standard NBA contract. If a new contract is signed, the two-way contract becomes null and void.

I could read the quote from Van Gundy as meaning the extra time gained to make a decision on Buycks for next year is just the rest of the season too. So... :dontknow:
