Thompson will be making 16mil a year for two more years, less than we should expect Kanter to make, and is a stud on the boards and defense

Kanter is a much better offensive player and all around human, from what we can see

but if defense and toughness matter more then he's a better fit, right?

I think for Kanter we could even ask for additional value back
perhaps Osman?

LeBron hates Kanter so it probably wouldn't happen either way but yeah I would do it. Unless you have knowledge that PG is thinking of signing with us then there's really no point in having cap space this summer anyway other than to possibly take on bad contracts for assets. If the Cavs threw in their late 1st, then I would think it would be a no brainer and theoretically Thompson is a good fit with KP defensively. He's better at switching on the perimeter and is a good rebounder like you mentioned. Offensively he's extremely limited though and without a real grade A creator for him out there he would struggle even more here on that end.

I think the Cavs would have more interest in KOQ though. They're horrible defensively and Kanter isn't helping them on that end.

We could possibly get an asset for involving Kanter in a trade with Thompson since their salaries pretty much match? Again it's all moot because LBJ doesn't like Kanter. I don't think even Gilbert is that asinine to trade a player who LBJ likes/shares an agent with for a player LBJ openly dislikes/discredits in a contract year. KOQ would be much more likely to go to Cleveland in any deal IMO (or possibly to the Clips in a 3 team DAJ mega trade)

Kevon Looney lost 30pounds last summer and is a beast on defense in limited minutes even tho gsw didnt picked his option.

I’ll take Stanley Johnson for Lance Thomas and Ramon Sessions. He still has potential and can be a part of our young core. He can post and slash and defend. He’s not a 3 point shooter yet. With Hardaway, KP, and potentially Frank’s outside games he could fit nicely.

Justise Winslow is about to return to playing this Sunday against the Bucks and Dion is going to get season ending surgery. The Heat could really use some scoring off the bench short term. Knicks should offer them Beasley and a second round pick swap for Winslow and see if they bite.

If Knicks were smart theyd resign Beasley for a 2 yr contract/3rd year optional. Right now he's playing better than any other Knick player is right now except maybe Kanter.He's a scoring machine and Knicks desperately need that since their not going to win games like Hornacek wants ,by winning by defense.

to the Wizards for

Otto Porter
Marcin Gortat

Reasons the knicks do it. Otto Porter is the exact SF they need if they can't sub a star player there. He's efficient, defends, shoots the 3, and is ok being a third option. Gortat is a 12 Mil a year contract that is similar to Lee's but a year shorter. The Knicks don't have a Kanter force inside but Willy gets time to develop and they still have 3 Viable Center is Gortat, Willy, and to a far lesser degree Noah

This also allows the knicks to take best player in the draft instead of being forced to go after a SF and hope they develop into a Otto Porter player eventually. That's the young core the knicks build around for 2 more seasons to try and be contenders.

Reason the Wizards do it

They need better rebounding and scoring from their Bigs and Kanter provides that and inside scoring. Otto while playing pretty good is way to expensive of a contract compared to his production. So even if Enes stays they save money and if he leaves they can then save that money or go after another Big. Regardless his contract is 2 years short than Porters. Oubre has been playing really well and will be on his rookie contract for a few more seasons as well. If the knicks add Beasley they can then still have been scoring from SF off the bench. Lee and KOQ also makes their bench a lot better as well (there second biggest issue). Morris is just enough of a defender/outside shooter that he works with Kanter too in the starting lineup.

If the kn icks are smart you trade him. They got to get guys who fit into KP's Prime and Beasley doesn't unfortunately.
