I'm down to make a trade for a "possibly about to blow up" kinda player stuck behind a star.

Napier? Sure. If the price is right and we get him for Jared Dudley and 2 second round picks (like Bledsoe).

This is the only move I expect us to make.

Monroe - traded for something that doesn't mess up our cap flexibility

OR

Bought out so he can join a contender and Sarver saves some money.

I think Chandler could be moved but I doubt its for a total expiring contract

I could see Troy Daniels have a lot of value - and that should be for an expiring. Would give Reed playing time

Buy out or trade Monroe

That's great. I'm not picky about who specifically it needs to be, so long as the player is fairly young, and the player is our long-term answer at the position. Sign'm up. I'm sure we'll have to take on Turner's ridiculous contract, in the process, but if we can trade BK's for his, it would really only be like taking on an additional $3M per year during the same time-frame.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7jlbu3c

Another terrible trade idea by yours truly...

Napier / Booker / JJ / Chriss / Chandler
Canaan / Evans / Harkless / Bender / Len

Problem is, if Napier ands up regressing and not being very good, we just took on 3-yrs / $29M while only giving up 3-yrs / $14.6M...basically half.

You just proposed a win-now trade that the Hollinger analysis expects would cause us to lose 4 more games this year.

Please stop proposing trades where you're giving away our players. I don't get you, man.

Add him to the list of reasonable possibilities this summer.

I've never really given his mentions much thought, and haven't really watched him, but maybe he just really likes to start lighting it up in his 4th year. After all, in one of the craziest NCAA tournament runs ever, where they were a 7 seed in their region, he puts that UConn team on his back to knock out Villanova, Michigan St, Florida and then Kentucky to win the NCAA Championship. He just looked built for the big moment that year.

Then you look at his efg% increase in each of the last two years, he clearly is a guy that seems to get better every year. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/n/napiesh01.html

I still don't really see him as a long term starting solution, but given what we have now, he'd likely be an improvement, not that that's saying much.

Why not? Admittedly, I don't know much about him, but if he can keep these numbers up as a starter, he would be a 17/4/4 guy with 2.2 Stls with a 42% 3PT%. I'm sure that comes down, but even 38-39% would be fair enough on over 4-5 atts/gm.

Is there something else about his game that is troublesome? The Asst Rate too low? Would he and Booker likely 'clash', per se? just wondering what you see, or don't see, in him that causes you concern for the long-term. He is pretty small, and may not hold up to full time for 82 games...so that might be a problem; IDK.

I’m sure you guys are as dialed into the Trae Young sweepstakes as Magic fans are..

But do you have any interest in Elfrid Payton?

He can be on the roster like Luol Deng on the Lakers... but on the court? No.Please.No.

He's going to play. I don't think we're in a financial position to sit a $14m a year player. Even if it's 10mpg, he's going to play. Unfortunately

I wonder if we start him at PG, like nothing ever happened and see how things progress? If he's not doing so hot, pull him off and bring him in to spell Booker at SG. If he is doing well, keep him in and trade him the first caller/opportunity that comes our way, as we know what the REALYl BK is, and what will eventually happen.

We start him, pray that he starts off pretty well, and if he's at least avg, keep him in and keep starting him. The second that changes, take him out, feign a mild injury, and do our best to trade him immediately.

Too transparent?? Yeah, probably. But man, we have GOT to find a way to get him off the roster ASAP, IMO, even for pennies on the dollar. The good thing is, his isn't the worst contract out there. See if we take take on a bigger one, but shorter one, and get a young player out of the deal.

Maybe, but he's been sitting for almost a year. He sat after the all star break last year, a good 10 games before Bledsoe sat. I am sure if he's still around next year the tankers will want him to get minutes, but I've really had enough of him and hope by next year we are serious about trying to start to win.

Is he interested in cutting his hair? Truly, why would we want a player who values his "do" more than winning, his team, or his career.

Our starting PG is Tyler Ulis. Pretty sure we have interest in about 100 other point guards.

of course we would have interest in payton, anyone over ulis. At what cost though? That's probably why the other's are saying no.

Payton is way way better than Tulis. We should be in that sweepstakes.

Depending on the price tag - probably worth looking into

Suns need a long term fit at PG. As much as I want Young, I am not sure the Suns will be "bad enough" to get him.

Troy Daniels and the Milwaukee pick - or is that too much

I am sure they would do Biyombo/Payton for Knight / Daniels - but that's only if you move Chandler

Agreed. We need a quality vet and a young prospect with big upside. Payton is closer to the former, but for that, I'd prefer to look at the draft.

I'd be interested in DJ Augustin at the price of a second rounder, perhaps... ::looks at contract:: Ooh! 3 years. Never mind.

Lol we’ve got people at the point where they’d take Elfrid Payton as the starter of this team.. I knew morale was low after last night’s thumping but this???

It's popular to want the starters of the teams projected to finish worse than us (Payton, Schroeder and Hill/Fox) or projected to finish almost as bad as us (Tyreke).
