I think this team should be a legit threat to make the playoffs next year. That's no FA....with more or less the same roster.

You throw a PG and/or a Lebron....and I think so.

Depends mostly on how good Lonzo and Ingram get next year. Even if we had PG on the team this year we wouldn't make the playoffs. So yeah to me it is completely dependent on the young players development on top of getting a good free agent.

I think the Lakers will make the playoffs next season.

Lonzo, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart and whoever they keep between Nance or Randle should all be better. I also expect us to have signed two max guys as well as use the room-exception to improve our roster, but if that doesn’t happen (and George, Boogie, Lebron all stay put) i think there a many other ways to improve our team without throwing money away in a panic-move (Deng, Mozzy).

I mean, LA could play the restriced market and try to land someone like Clint Capela or Aaron Gordon and there’s a bunch of 2019 expirings that could be had more or less for free – Wes Mattews, Ricky Rubio, Vucevic, Carroll etc.

I think it will be a failure of monumental proportions if we don't make the playoffs next season. Just based on how we're playing right now, it's within the realm of possibility that we could make the playoffs without a big name free agent... But everything hinges on us getting one, so if we do that and still don't make the playoffs, this Org will be in full panic mode.
If we don't sign a big name FA... Also full panic mode... And also probably no playoffs (more because of what we'll do to sign the FA than the talent we have now)...
I think a lot of jobs next season depend on the 8th seed at a minimum.

I think so - but adding the right FA(s) should put us beyond juts making the 8 seed and eliminated in the first round. We need a) shooting and b) a rim-protecting, defensive, rebounding big who can run the floor. Doesn't need to shoot threes, just catch lobs and putbacks, pick-and-rolls. Randle, Clarkson, Ennis for Byombo and Isaac? They need to fix their roster and Byombo is killing them for salary. They might do it.

Well, assuming Ingram, Kuzma, and Ball keep improving... I would think those three should have this team sniffing around the playoffs next year. But its hard to say cause we don't know what the team around them will look like. For as much as people don't want to hear it, because at times they've both been maddening, Randle and KCP have been positive contributors. Assuming they're both gone, who do we replace them with?

If they add PG at least they should be a playoff team. If they add another guy, Lebron obviously, they'll no doubt be a title contender. If it's Cousins, they'll be a playoff team, but I don't know exactly what their ceiling is.

The C position, like the PG position, is pretty deep right now, and there will be quite a few interesting names on the market. If the Lakers land PG but strike out on Bron or Cousins (I'm indifferent to him but I know he'll be a target), then they should considering throwing a one year mega deal at one of the other Cs on the market.

Agree with this.

I think after all the promises and expectations set by the front office, it would be a failure of massive proportions if they can’t even make the playoffs next year. It would mean free agency plan failed and the development of the young core failed.

If we do i think its by the skin of our teeth. 8th seed and like a 42-40 record (i think we end up with George and George only in the offseason, I don't think Lebron comes).

As they are now, lol no. They will be around 8-12 in the draft. If they land LeBron and/or PG13 and Boogie. Yes.
