Would You Retire CP3’s Number?

I’m out on doing it after last night.

No rings.
Asked to be traded.
Complete disrespect on his first trip back.

Another member mentioned it and it came uo on Cris Carter and Nick Wright’s show.

lol what even happened yesterday that would make you re-think your position. Game got feisty and some words were exchanged, none of the players is taking it seriously and neither should you.

Personally I look forward to beating his ass as many times as possible, but I want his jersey retired, yes. Dude's not only the best Clipper ever, he chose us when no player of his calibre would, and he gave his all every game he wore this jersey. All the rest is noise for TMZ subscribers.

I've been out on retiring his number since the end of last season for three reasons:

- He never led us past the second round of the playoffs, even when we had golden opportunities. He also wasn't a homegrown superstar that we drafted and developed like Blake. His best individual accolade in a Clippers uniform was an All-Star Game MVP. I don't think that's worthy of retiring a player's number.

- He quit on us in Game 7 against the Jazz. Anyone who quits on an organization shouldn't get their number retired by that organization. That's why I was pissed when the Kings retired Rob Blake's number.

- He did that pathetic ESPN documentary in the offseason about how his playoff failures were all the Clippers' fault and not his own. That was a lot worse than The Decision, and he got no criticism at all for it. It was infuriating.

Last night's debacle just confirmed what I already felt. The way he behaved in his return to LA was beyond classless and disrespectful to the Clippers. CP3 is not deserving of the honor. Retiring his number would be like OKC retiring Durant's number.

My reasoning is from before yesterday as well. That’s evident in the OP.

But....

He doesn’t carry this organization with any respect. Plenty of us still like him and wished him well in Houston and he comes there last night and let’s his on the court crap with Griffin (that he started with a hard foul in the 1st half btw) spill into some post game locker room garbage.

Hey, the best player ever asked to be traded and treated us like dog meat when he came back.

Doesn’t make me wanna retire his number or have a ceremony. Just makes me want to find a new best Clipper ever.

I wouldn't even have given him an appreciation video last night.

The only thing we should be doing with CP3's jersey is scrubbing his name off the back of it to give to the next man up; Chris Paul never did anything in Los Angeles worthy of being remembered.

Given he's pretty much a lock for the HOF, we'll still be the same old Clippers if we don't, until we win a ring without him or at least start contending again regularly, if not every year

I would retire his number. I get people are emotional right now and don't like his antics/shots at the Clips, but he's one of the greatest PG's ever and gave this franchise legitimacy. He deserves it.

No he shouldn't. He grabbed for every last penny he could and forced us to make one of the worst decisions in franchise history (hiring Doc) in the process. That was the first red flag that he only cared about himself, not the team.

Still, a scrub who hopped on the bandwagon wouldn't have even been a blip on the radar. Blake and CP legitimized this franchise, even with all the playoff failures.

These are not just regular antics/shots; his participating in the Bawl In The Hall confirms how he feels about the Clippers.

I get all that. But time heals all wounds. It may not happen in the near future, but eventually I think it will happen.

I'm totally fine with retiring Chris Paul's #3, I'm even fine with retiring Elton Brand's #42. We don't have any retired #s yet. He had a great stretch with us, even if he didn't take us all the way. We don't have a great basketball history so why not honor him with all the regular season winning he has brought the franchise. I know a lot of you are bitter, I'm not at all. I appreciate all that he's done for the Clippers and I hope the organization does retire his #.
