What's the meaning behind your username?

Post#1 » by King4Day » Wed Jan 17, 2018 4:07 pm

Back in the old forum I used to post in, I had a topic in the Suns thread asking what the meaning behind each persons username was.
I thought it would be cool to learn a bit about each other in that regard.

As a mod for the Suns on PSD, I learned fast that any mention of 'Real GM' was considered bad news and that it would be 'bleeped out' if you wrote that name or website.
On there, I was 'King4Day' (taken after the name of a 'Faith No More' album).

I had seen how active RealGM was so I created a lurker account, 'DarkHawk'. It was so I could post on occasion and just see what was being discussed.

DarkHawk comes from one of my all-time favorite Marvel Comics. He only had a 50 comic run but it was a relatable character.
After the demise of SSOL, the Suns forum became a ghost town so I made my full-time transition to this forum.

I started here under GoDogGo. It was a play off of the Dr Seuss book, the thing D’Antoni would scream “go, go, go”, and that I am the year of the dog in Chinese astrology. After Realgm, changed its format in 2009, I couldn’t get into that account, I did a similar theme, with a run and gun theme.

I still feel that we played best when we push the tempo. While I didn’t like D’Antoni’s coaching and stubbornness. His desire to push the tempo was very successful, and still one of the better systems for our players (young and old) to play their best.

NTB is the abbreviation of NashTheBest which was one of my oldest nicknames in NBA forums of my country.

First 3 letters of my name and first 3 letters of my surname. I'm not good at creative nicknames.

The dirty desert is supposed to be like Dirty South for AZ of course. Darnell Dockett used to say it. My real name is not Dez lol.

I joined on the night we almost pulled off the Curry trade on draft night so things were crazy and never ended up changing it after 8 years.

I use the screen name Blackeyed Blonde on several forums and services. That is the name of a Red Hot Chili Peppers song from their 1985 album Freaky Styley. I was at one time a huge fan of the band so I just kind of adopted the name online. I eventually just shortened it to Blonde. I have brown hair haha.

JC is for Jerry Colangelo. I should probably change, but I have had it forever.

Mine was my nickname from one drunken New Years' eve here in NZ about 10yrs ago.

We'd been playing cricket and rugby all morning on the beach whilst doing funnel after funnel of beer and I (not sure why) kept adding 'tastic' onto the end of everything. Beers tasted good so they were 'beertastic' and hot girls were 'babetastic'...

My actual nickname is Mace, so my 3-4 closest mates started calling me macetastic. Now it's back to Mace apart from 1-2, who shortened Macetastic to Tastic, then down to tas. So one mate actually calls me 'Tas'...Which is even harder to explain than TASTIC.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Mathias was the leader of the Pharaonic Warriors (PW) in ancient egypt. He lead the resistance to the attempted murder plot of Ramses III, who then became the longest lasting pharaoh in egyptian history. During his life, Egypt went through mostly peaceful times and flourished as as one of the most successful nations in world history.

...or it could just be my name and surname initials...

lilfish was my nickname back in school. Fishy was my older cousin's online nickname which people called him IRL. We went to the same school so all his friends called me lilfishi

This was well before most of us in Aus discovered rap names starting with lil so it's totally unrelated in that sense. Just had to put it out there

Silly Australians! Everybody knows that you are supposed to use the Wu-Tang Rap Name generator to come up with your rap name! It helps avoid the surplus of "Lil"'s in the Rap Game!

FUN FACT: This is exactly how Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino came up with his. He used this one HERE. Sure enough if you type in his name, Childish Gambino comes up! Mine ends up being "Bittah Contender" LOL!
