Second Worst Trade of last Decade?

Post#1 » by pipfan » Sat Jan 20, 2018 7:34 pm

We all know the Bos-BRK trade was the worst of the last decade. Which was the 2nd worst?

I got 5 below, but my vote is for the Knight/MCW/Laker pick one-just because 2 teams screwed up big time in one deal

Am I leaving any off?

Might not be the worst but I still hate thinking about how the Pistons traded Brandon Knight and Khris Middleton for Brandon Jennings. But to be fair, no one knew Middleton would be this good and that Jennings would tear his Achilles.

Andrea Bargnani to the Knicks for a 1st rounder, 2 second rounders and the corpses of Marcus Camby, Steve Novak, and Quentin Richardson has got to be up there.

Changed the fortunes of both teams since that trade: Raptors 4 straight playoff years; Knicks four straight lottery years.

that was awful trade but knicks can thank bargnani for making Knicks bad enough enough to get KP in 2015

what kind of idiot thought melo and bargnani would work

G Wall trade was so bizarre, trading a high pick for a guy they could sign anyways.

The Harden trade- only cause they were only a few million off from an extension but ended up trading a superstar for Steven Adams basically.

All these trades are 1st round picks for nothing in return. Which just means potentially getting a good player.

Still think Raptors trading a legit star (vince) for nothing is worse. Unfortunately Ill never forget About Rob Babcock.

From that list, it has to be Dame.

It wasn't Lillard for Wallace, it was the pick that coincidentally ended up to be Lillard, it's a completely different thing.

If you're gonna look at traded pick in the light of the player they turned into, might as well mention the Warriors getting Troy Murphy and a 2012 second-round draft pick (Draymond Green) from the Nets in exchange for Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric.

If you are looking at players eventually drafted instead of picks, Baron Davis and Kyrie Irving for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon is one of the worst.

That Knight trade with the Lakers pick still baffles me.

Steve Nash was traded for what ended up being two first round picks and two second round picks.

He then proceeded to break his leg and miss two months. He was plagued by injuries throughout his Lakers tenure and was 10% of the player he was supposed to be because of those injuries.

Potentially could be the Kings trading Jason Thompson, Carl Landry and Nik Stauskas to the 76ers in a cap dump in exchange for a 2017 pick swap, 2018 2nd rounder and 2019 unprotected 1st.

That 2019 unprotected 1st is looking very Brooklyn like right now.

harden and it's not even close

top 3-5 player in the league since and okc didn't get anything close to comparable back

lol at comparing the rest of those names to harden.. harden is more valuable than lillard and boogie combined

cousins as the number 1 results in a lotto team.. cousin + AD results in a .500 team
lillard along with another solid guard in mccollum results in a .500 team

harden + no one significant has won 50+ on his own

the harden trade is one of the worst in nba history.. better yet, sports history

The Gerald Wallace trade might go down as a worse trade than the KG/PP-Nets trade... So that's the easy vote.

No one knew at the time that Harden would be as good as he became... All-Star potential? Sure. But MVP candidate? No way.

Boogie was already established as one of the games' best big men... and the Kings got absolute garbage for him.
