Completely taking over down the stretch. Unreal.

He's had some bad turnovers today though. Big one just there.

He's no doubt a blast to watch at the college level.

Re: Trae Young
I just watched Oklahoma lose to Oklahoma State.
Today I would have hated to have been Trae Young's teammate. He took a lot of hero shots. One of his teammates intentionally looked him off late in the game.
They lost very predictably with Trae Young trying to dribble it all the way. Pass. The. Ball.

I think he should have refused to go on those National TV programs.
Young has not been as good the past few games.

Re: Trae Young
His decision making in the first half and the last couple OT minutes was really awful. He had a pretty bad game by his standards.
The good news is that you know you're talented when you played poorly and still drop 48 points on 54% TS. Has to cut down the turnovers and stop trying to take so many hero shots.

Re: Trae Young
Wow, what a great effort by Young. It was a really fun game to watch.
I still have him as my 5th best prospect. Even with that near-come back my problem with Young still comes up. I feel like he's one of those players who needs 15shots to get going. At one point, he was 4-15. He finished the game out 10-24.
Some people will just point to 48pts 8asts 5rebs 2stls, but you really have to look beyond that when evaluating NBA prospects. Trae Young has a greener green light than Jimmer did..

Yes he does. Biggest reason OU got him to begin with. Doesn’t bode well for March though.

Might sound counter intuitive but I think he needs to play in a dual ball handler system.

Headline: Young scores 48 points
Article's content: 39 shots (including 20 3 pointers), 7 TOs, horrible decision making in clutch moments that led to a defeat against Oklahoma's biggest rival

I was commenting as I was watching the game. The team as a whole (not Young) was terrible the first half. They weren’t doing anything. Young was forced to take that many shots because no one on the team was helping. The second half player actually started to make shots and make the extra pass. Young started to play better when he got his teammates going. At the end of the game he took some bad shots, but started to get to the line a lot and he made every free throw. He should have tried to get contact driving earlier. Overall he needs to be more aggressive getting to the rim instead of taking these crazy threes that might not always go in. When he has pressure on him like that, he needs to attack the basket. Moral of the story is that he needs to get his teammates going and attack the basket if he has that much pressure on him. His teammates also have to do a better job of getting open and moving around the floor. Again, he’ll have more success in the NBA when defenses don’t only have to stop him. With a proper rolling big he can really really good.

Yes, he will be a successful NBA player.doordoor123 wrote:Chocolate City Jordanaire wrote:The kid almost took 40 shots today.doordoor123 wrote:Today’s game is going to be important because Oklahoma State gave him a hard time last time and he was “figured out” last game by Kansas State. I agree with you--He needs to drive rather than settle for the pull up.
I'm sorry if I was overly critical of Trae Young. Mid-way through his freshman season, he is a phenomenally gifted player. Perhaps, this is a mid-season slump. He's getting plenty feedback. If he's a great player he will adjust and so will his teammates.

Re: Trae Young
Anybody questioning how Young will translate in the NBA should be watching this Warriors vs. Rockets game
Nothing but 1 on 1 chucking with a lot of turnovers. Even Chris Paul is just going iso 1 on 1 and taking shot after shot
Steph Curry
19 points
6-20 from the field
5-15 from 3
8 assists
6 turnovers
Trae Young will translate just fine in the NBA lol

Zach Lavine/Ochai Agbaji/Corey Kispert
Aaron Gordon/Josh Okogie/Javonte Green
Jakob Poeltl/Moussa Diabate/Karlo Matkovic

But youre picking one of Curry's worst games of the year. Curry on the year is shooting 49/41/91, 59% from 2 and 67% at the rim, with a 6.5 assists to 3 turnovers. Curry in his career (College and NBA) has never average 4 turnovers a game. He has come close twice with 3.8. Chris Paul has had seasons where he has flirted with the 50/40/90 club, last season Paul's shooting numbers were 47/41/89, 52% from 2 and 60% at the rim. Paul has only averaged 3 turnovers or more 1 time in his college and NBA career and it was 3.0 turnovers on the dot. Paul has a career assist to turnover ratio better than 4:1.
Compare that to what Young is doing in the Big 12. 39/37/80 shooting numbers and is averaging 8 assists to 7 turnovers. He is also shooting 41% from 2 and 50% at the rim.
Im sorry either than shooting long 3s their games are drastically different. He plays nothing like Paul who is one of the most efficient PGs the game has ever seen and is a stud defender. When it comes to Curry, Curry is not just an elite 3pt shooter, he is an elite mid range and finisher as well, he is also efficient with the ball when it comes to assists and turnovers.

His teammates maybe should've hit some shots, and learning to dribble wouldn't hurt either

Re: Trae Young
I've only seen highlights of his games.
Does Young move without the ball? Seems to have high usage rate and pounds the ball.
Rather than Curry or CP3, better comparisons might be Lillard or Kemba. Could be a good offensive player but not among the league leaders in efficiency and ultimately doesn't make the rest of the team better -- he'll probably get his, including a lot of assists in some games.

he is awesome at it when he gets the chance, he is the only guy that can handle the rock in his team so he doesnt get that chance often enough
