I wouldn't bet against it. He's still very young but he wasn't ready at this time. He needs to become an assistant coach first and work his way up.
Somehow it's flown under the radar so far here, but with the current women's rights push I'd surprised if he ever got another HC job.

Re: KIDD FIRED
I've watched enough Bucks games this season to know how bad Kidd was. Congrats guys. Hopefully things get better from here on out.

Re: KIDD FIRED
What usually happens with a mid-season firing is - teams start out well with the new coach as everyone's energized. And then Parker's coming back - so that should provide a boost. Thing is - If the team doesn't show a lot in the playoffs, is it just treading water, and what proof do we have that we're really making any progress?

Funny how everyone loves to give Horst crap all the time, but he’s done a good job so far imo.
People were roasting him over a public radio interview last week

The schedule is a lot easier in the second half and Jabari will be back so nobody should be fooled when this team plays better down the stretch. Prunty is not the answer.
It's like the old saying goes - Be careful what you wish for cuz you just might get it.
True, but in this case I really don't know how anyone who could reasonably hired as coach could be noticeably worse.
Don't Kidd yourself, plenty of coaches would be worse than Jason. The good news is we have Giannis and who wouldn't want to coach Giannis? I don't see any A-level, Brad Stevens-type candidate available but the Bucks should be able to hire a solid B-level coach.

To me this a reset season now: see how Jabari looks, make a minor move or two at the deadline, hope Ginannis' knee is fine and play him under 40 a game when possible.
I feel like we have the talent to beat anyone not BOS/CLE in the east, whatever happens is gravy after this wondrous day.

He'd get money for it, assuming he can get it on top of the Grizzles money and it's not one of those where they pay the difference type situations and if he did well he'd have the leg up for the job next year with a top 5 player. He'd have the inside track to what will be the best available job in the offseason and a chance to get a relationship with Giannis that could get him the job.
...or he could wait until the offseason and compete for multiple jobs - including this one - with a guaranteed contracts that span several years.
There's a reason why no one ever does what you're suggesting.
He could still do that but without having the inside track on this job which will be the best one available. Really the only risk is he does crappy and then is not able to do that, but if a guy thinks that way he probably never would have gotten this far. IMO the coach would have nothing to lose. It's the team that avoids doing this, not the coach. They don't know how bringing a fresh person mid year would mesh so they just go the easy transition route with the assistants. And then potentially have to bring in yet another coach/system again a few months later. Sure, that could be in the coach's mind too but you'd think they'd be confident in themselves and would jump on the chance.
Coaching isn't a mercenarial position. It requires a commitment. You have to actually have a vision, with assistants who buy into that vision and know how to implement it. Fizdale wouldn't be able to bring in his own assistants, as they're still in Memphis, and would instead be stuck with guys who he didn't hire, he may not know, and who may not share the same perspective. He wouldn't have a training camp needed to implement his own vision, as they're in the midst of a playoff run. He'd have zero relationships with anyone in the FO, on his staff, or his players to rely on. And he wouldn't have a guaranteed contract, because the search would be wide-open.
If you're confident in yourself, you don't desperately snatch at a job which sets you up for failure. You wait until the offseason when you can sell yourself to multiple organizations, build your own staff, install a vision, and get several years of guaranteed money on the books.

See this is why you don't take the radio-interview comments of FO people at face value and draw all kinds of conclusions. Guess the FO wasn't pleased with our progress after all! Whoops.

Let's hope so. Let's hope Kidd somehow becomes the next coach of the Celtics after Brad Stevens decides he's bored in Boston and just has to coach Giannis for the next 15 years.
In all seriousness, Jason Kidd as a head coach of some other NBA team means 1 less team the Bucks have to worry about standing in their way.
