They didn’t push. The name Enes Kanter didn’t sound like Ryan Anderson so they took the deal
The Ryan Anderson deal would've been better. Even if you still want to play KP at the 4 Anderson could've come off the bench since you still had 3 centers on the roster.
But Anderson and KP together would've fit when you wanted to play KP at the 5. This organization wanted to run from Phil Jackson so bad and so quickly. You could tell with the THJ signing.
I've always said build your team for the future and how it can compete with who you project will be the championship caliber teams when you anticipate you'll be ready.

Dude was always a bum. Same as Trey Burke. A bum. Guys wear Knick uni's and automatically they're given second chances just because.
You know when players aren't who you think they are? When they're 19 year old rookies.
I don't get this Burke garbage. The dude been in the league 5 years. Played in 270 games. Started in 111 of them. And people want to "see what he can do." That cat is who is he is. Plain and simple. Yet we have a 19 year old who seems eager to learn, and continue his maturation as a player and people already growing tired of him. This board at times has its head lodged up their ass.
I don't get it either. He's been given abundant opportunity to prove his worth to some NBA team but he's not an NBA player. Just watch him in his defensive stance and his defensive slide. He looks like a 70 year old man.

Not without picks. Why take Anderson and take on an extra year when you can just buy Melo out?
Knicks got a little more value with the OKC deal but a logjam to clear. Also, unfortunately the Bulls are not cooperating by being terrible. I've got a bit of a bone to pick with them.

Y'all are killing me
i was trashing him last season when people were thinking to build around him over kristaps
you are trashing everyone, that doesn't count
yeah I remember people saying he is better than KP, but that just shows how appreciated he was when he actually was playing. everyone forgot his soft hands, his great finishing around the rim and synergy with KP

Well buy him out then. But Kanter and Mcdermott? You're comparing pieces of rotten fruit on the ground.. and picked two of the less rotten pieces but still rotten.

In addition to that we are giving Ron Baker 15min a night to Franks 20min. I mean I genuinely want to know who exactly we are grooming here. I can fully appreciate a guy diving on the floor for a loose ball, fighting over a screen and taking a charge for his teammates. But there is absolutely no way in hell Baker should be playing that much at the NBA Level. I could understand it if Frank was playing 30min and Baker 5min. To make matters worse you added Burke to this mix (and I ain't even talking about that old bag with 1 hip) and I don't see how Frank is going to have the confidence to get better with legitimate support.

That was my leaning. Though I do think the deal they got was a little better due to Doug's ending contract, TPE, and the 2nd rounder. Minor chips.

My main point is the cap shouldn't matter until you feel you're on the cusp.

Nah ryan anderson wouldve been much worse. Maybe not on the ball court, but 2 more seasons at $20mil a year. Thats noah-esque
We'd barely be getting ready to contend in 2 years. Non-factor. Cap space to the NYK is like free crack to a crackhead. We don't need it right now.

and everyone forgot just how soft he is and how brutal defensively he is.
everyone forgets the dumb turnovers he commits and how everyone is out of place defensively when he’s on the floor.
scoring 14 points means nothing if you give up 20 points on the end.

Bring me to this though. Is there any evidence of a player being ruined by playing too much too soon? Or were they really just not that good to begin with?
It's the old NFL QB debate. Start the rookie and feed him to the wolves or bring him along slowly like GB did with Aaron Rodgers who I think would have been just as good if they had just started him his rookie year.
If Frank is going to be any good in this league it's not going to matter how you bring him along as long as the coaching staff showed him support and confidence the whole time.

I don’t think there is a magic number that would all of a sudden deem it “throwing him to the wolves” or a direction where you are setting him up to fail. My problem is how we bring him along vs other teams. For example Lonzo Ball could post a 3-15, 0-4, 1-4 line with 7 TO’s yet play 37min IN THAT SAME GAME. Dennis Smith could go 4-17 with 6 TO and yet the Mavs can have confidence to ultimately let him play through his struggles and give him 34min that night. Frank can make a bad TO, lose someone on a defensive assignment and Hornaceck will give him that disappointed father look. I just don’t believe that this coaching staff is going to be able to groom Frank the way he should be. Look at what Budz did for THJ in Atlanta. What coach on our sidelines can have a similar impact on Frank. I just don’t see that person.

Sure, but smart teams use those intermittent pieces to move towards that point.

Who's going to step to him? The bums that are playing and losing?

It's not about wins and losses. It is about being a professional and respecting your teammates. Willy has accomplished nothing to be feeling so entitled and this chirpy about his PT. What has he earned? What dues has he paid? Dude was carrying teammates luggage to the team bus and making donut runs just last season.
