Kawhi's Agent: "Story is the furthest thing from the truth" (Sports Illustrated)

Jared Zwerling:
"I had a phone conversation yesterday with Dennis Robertson, Kawhi's uncle and business manager, who is based in New Jersey. Dennis called me and we had a nice chat. Before Dennis called me he said he had a conversation with RC Buford, GM of the Spurs, and said they had a great conversation. Overall, here's the consensus: the story is farthest from the truth. That was a quote from Dennis. We talked about the situation. Really, there's no issue between Kawhi and the Spurs. Kawhi has the utmost respect for Popovich and Buford. It's not about any issues internally. This is about not having any more setbacks. There's no re-injury right now. The focus is strengthening that left quad. It's really important because the quad is an injury that can come back and bite you. It's an injury you can get again and re-injure a lot easily, so it's about strengthening that quad and keeping Kawhi focused on getting back to that strength to help him into the NBA situations. That's the focus right now."

Lol at Espn’s attempt to assassinate Kawhi’s character and repaint him as a malcontent. I’m sure they got their clicks though so they ain’t mad

Why would ESPN try this with Kawhi of all people. Once fans realize how stupid of a story this was from ESPN they'll just lose more followers.

Weren't they they same network who also went full on with Chris Paul and Harden getting into a fist fight after the Clippers game that supposedly happened?
clicks, clicks, and more clicks

Not only this but there were no shortage of tmz-trash headlines with a degree of merit to discuss.
I had to spend 4 hours in the car today and the Leonard story ate up well over half of the SXM airtime, trade scenarios and all. Sad.
Perhaps it was blown out to divert attention from the very real dumpster fire in Cleveland.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
I like how Jalen broke the story like he had a legitimate source yet ended it by asking some obvious questions he should know if his sources were legitimate.
So apparently he knows he wants out but doesn't know what's going on with his injury.
Is it his quad? What's going on with his history? Was he misdiagnosed?

Yeah - that and get all the trade rumors rolling about what flashy team is going to get Kawhi...

Re: Kawhi's Agent: "Story is the furthest thing from the truth" (Sports Illustrated)
Jalen's claim that Kawhi "wants out" always seemed overstated to me. But we can read through the lines. Players want to win, want to feel like they're moving toward the goal of winning a championship. Much like Lillard having a meeting with Paul Allen, I'm sure Kawhi wants to be confident that the team is moving forward and right now he's not as confident as he would like to be. Jalen reports this in the most dramatic way possible which forces Kawhi's camp to issue denials. We've seen this before. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire but it doesn't at all mean that Kawhi "wants out".

Jalen needs to apologize and put his big foot in his mouth & really never quote 'sauces' again. He is an utter embarrassment. Please, go away Jalen

What an embarrassment for ESPN, and the fact that it was their Golden Boy that broke this yesterday is even worse. You can tell it was BS the way it was phrased given that it made no sense.

I said it in the other thread. Without Lonzo to talk about, due to his injury, ESPN is desperate to manufacture headlines.
