I don’t buy it. The injury is pretty perplexing but they were one sprained ankle away from facing LeBron in the Finals. I can see frustration due to an injury, all althetes are frustrated when they get hurt, but a change in scenery isn’t likely. Forgot Pau re-upped.

I would trade Josh Jackson, 2018/2020 unprotected, Miami 2018, Milwaukee pick, Monroe (to give them cap space and take back whatever bad contracts they want).

You really think even including Booker the Suns would have enough to trade for Kawhi? Not sure about that, but I'm pretty sure the Suns wouldn't do it anyway since I can't see Kawhi re-signing with the Booker-less Suns in 2019. The Suns roster may not be pretty now, but it would be a disaster if they traded Booker and their first or something for Kawhi and he left.

It is interesting how the spurs are good without him, getting something like a top 3 pick and established player wouldn’t be a bad haul imo.

Brown+Tatum+LAL/SAC Pick+Mem.18+LAC.18 for Kawhi, plus fillers on both sides to make it work.
I am not sure if anyone could beat that offer, maybe Philly.

Yeah, I mentioned on the Suns forum that I think the Celtics would be the one team that had enough appealing players and picks to possibly do it if he was traded.

I could see a Love/Brooklyn pick for Kawhi going down (plus whatever filler San Antonio needs). It's a good deal for both teams. I think Pop will do wonders with Love working him into his system. Meanwhile the James and Leonard forward duo would have a real chance at taking down Golden State.

How are the Spurs going to win with Gasol, LMA and Love? Even Pop couldn't pull that one off.

Kawhi is worth way more than the BKN pick and Love.

I think the Spurs roster is questionable moving forward. Kawhi will be UFA in 1.5 seasons and the Spurs will already be on the hook for 2/3 of their cap on Aldridge, Mills and Kawhi's next deal. That is high level 55-60 win treadmill with Pop coaching, but nowhere near the talent level required for any playoff success beyond the 2nd round.

The Spurs have an incredibly deep backcourt. They are 30-18 and Leonard has barely played this season. You add Love to that team who would be utilized much better than he is in Cleveland. Love/Aldridge would be an excellent front line to go along with San Antonion's backcourt. Love could conceivably be a top 15 player on the Spurs the way they play and are coached and he is in his prime. Love is a Pop kind of player, a blue collar guy who just goes out there and does his job so he would be a great fit and Pop would figure out how to utilize him best. Then you add a valuable Brooklyn pick and maybe another future draft pick/expirings, that is not a bad trade for the Spurs. If someone can offer better fine but it is a nice balance between still being a player in the West and acquiring future assets.

I definitely agree with you on them hating small market teams. It seems that they have special hatred for the Spurs. For years they have said the Spur are finished but the Spurs continued to stay relevant even during the years where they were not winning titles. I remember when Duncan retired ESPN was dumb enough to believe the Spurs would not be a top 3 teams in the West. Their anger and hatred showed up when Kawhi got injured by Zaza in the playoffs. A lot of these clowns at ESPN was justifying Kawhi getting hurt by saying "Well Bruce Bowen was dirty and because Bowen was dirty Kawhi deserves to get hurt." That to me was a crazy asinine statement to make but they drilled it down. Spurs are not the favorites to win the title with a healthy Kawhi but they are always a threat to win it all and ESPN knows it. That's why they are hoping Kawhi leaves the Spurs so they no longer have to deal with them.

ESPN's relationship with the Spurs is like Vince's relationship with Hogan at the 9:01 mark in this clip.
