I'm going to be extremely bummed out if we move Brinson and others to get Yelich. I'd rather just see what we have in Brinson. It's Johnsonville by the way.
Misery loves company

Brinson has struggled with injuries, that's a concern. How real were the Colorado Springs offensive numbers? If he gets extended time in the big leagues this year and hits .220 with a **** on base percentage he's not headlining a major deal like this anymore. Just playing a little devil's advocate here.
You can say this stuff about any prospect. t's all about risk/reward, not an easy call at all to deal him away. Trust in Stearns I guess.

I agree that it may be high time to sell Brinson...but I worry about the other guys dealt.
Yelich for 5 years, Brinson for 6. I’ll take Yelich, probably.
However, I worry about the other pieces that are thrown in being pieces that may have helped a few years from now.

For who?
A Brinson headlined deal and some B or C assets would get you Yelich.
A few things
1. Miami has leverage in that they don't have to trade Yelish
2. Multiple teams would like to acquire him and we aren't the only team with prospects
3. He's entering his prime and on a very team friendly contract which increases his value from most players who get shopped.
4. What you may view as B or C prospects could be very different from what Miami views them as. Hell, with as deep as our system is, if you asked everyone on here or Brewerfan to list our top 10-15ish prospects in order, there would be lots of disagreement.
5. A big wild card could be if Miami asks for a trading team to also take on say a chunk of the contract for Wei-Yin Chen, which would lessen the return they could ask for.

We aren't ready to go prospects for win now. Going to be pissed if it's a huge prospect trade to land Yelich.

Something which hasn't been brought up with Yelich is defense. He spent most of his time with Miami in LF where he was way above average, but when moved to center he was still pretty good, not top tier as when he stayed in LF. It was also his only season as an everyday player in CF.
The biggest thing i've been looking forward to with Brinson as an everyday player is him roaming CF with his long legs and speed, looking similar to Devon White body wise, for those in an age group who remembers him. That dude was one of the best defensive players i've seen, the way he'd chase down ball in the gaps.

I'd be fine with a Yelich deal centered around Brinson. Wouldn't want to give up too many B level prospects though.
Based on other rumors this offseason, I could envision something like Brinson for Yelich, then Santana for pitching, sign Cain, maybe a stop gap 2B until Hiura is ready as I dont think were sold on Villar/Sogard and I doubt Walker is back based on his want for a long term deal and then obviously fill in the RP's. Not that I'm for all of this, but I'm just connecting dots.

I get anyone being leery of trading key prospects right now, but trade wise, the big appeal of Yelich to multiple teams is that he wouldn't be just some win now acquisition. He's only 25 and locked into a very team friendly contract for the next five years.
I'd be scared to trade Brinson, but if hypothetically Stearns did move him, i'd rather it be for a guy like Yelich who is still young and locked into his contract vs someone older and/or lacking much team control. I'd have to see the total package after Brinson before judging.

If only Braun could play 1st.
Trade for Yelich
Sign Lo Cain
Trade Domingo for a couple top 100 guys
Sign Arrieta or Yu if you really wanna go for it.
Sign Oh to a 1 year deal
Best way to keep prospects and vastly improve the team overall

This Yelich stuff finally caused Twirly to snap over on BF. I'm surprised it took this long.

Me: I would've done a scorched earth rebuild.
Some dude: OH THAT WOULD WORK WELL (lists teams that had **** management for years as evidence) WE CAN'T ATTRACT TOP TALENT AS IT IS.
Me: So, umm, how do you think we're going to get top tier talent?
Some dude: (Posts picture of Charlie Sheen winning)
Me: YOU JUST **** SAID WE CAN'T GET TOP TALENT. ARE WE NOW GOING TO BE OUTBIDDING THE YANKEES, CUBS, DODGERS AND PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER TEAM FOR THIS TALENT?

From BF:
wtf?
Prince Fielder, Billy Hamilton, and Khris Davis are the antagonists of what the Brewers want. One trick ponies who have glaring weaknesses that can and will be exposed by not only pitchers, but especially "playoff" pitchers.
wtf?

This seems like a great way to shorten a window and have a bunch of **** contracts tying us down in a few years.

The only contract here that would really tie us down would be if we managed to get Yu or Jake, and in completely fine if that didn't happen. Cain will be paid well but as long as it's a 4 year deal max it shouldn't hurt too bad, other than that Yelich is cheap and Oh would be a 1 year deal. We would still have a good amount of prospects for cheap talent going forward but we would be adding a couple 4+ win players
