I just saw ESPN do a piece with Coach Jim Calhoun. Basketball doesn't really matter . In life it is what can basketball do for you. Coach Calhoun made that point. John Wall is making the most in life out of his basketball career.

I'm very proud of John Wall the person and I've tweeted as much. He responded to one of my tweets. No matter what I criticize about his game or if I play amateur psychologist I'm proud of the young man.

I'm about 30 years older than he is. He's got his whole life ahead of him. Forget what he does for the Wizards. He's taking care of his family and he is a good role model as a human being.

He just has to make sure he travels in the right company and makes wise choices.

That's a wonderful letter John wrote, a wonderful thing he did. I know a little of what he's gone through; my Father died when I was young too, younger than John was.

His dad would be proud of him; his family must be -- very proud.

He has his feet in the path, & he's walking. I wish him every good thing. We sometimes forget that the NBA is just a chapter, a short one at that, in a man's life. My hopes for him are for all of it, all that's to come.
