Say what you will about Horst, but it seems as though he's been extremely proactive in his tenure thus far. Guy seems to have more freedom in his role than anyone else has had in decades with this franchise. An aggressive GM can be a good thing, it can be a bad thing, but I'd rather that than someone comfortable with the status quo.

As much as Edens has been flamed with regards to the GM debacle over the summer, if he's the guy in the room realizing the basketball guys need to handle the basketball stuff, that's a really really positive sign. Kidd seemed to be mostly Lasry's guy (at least initially with their existing relationship).

not that Snell needs to be broken...but the next coach needs to do the same with him. giannis' gravity should leave them wide open on drive and kicks.

That is just not the player he is. If you take his ballhandling and iso away I'd rather have Snell. Middleton is currently shooting below league average from 3.

Everyone bags on Khris for his isolation, which I agree, we need to see less of, but that was and has been Kidd's offense. There is no structure, there are no ball swings, it's perimeter isolation, everyone go this way, see what happens, possession after possession.

How much blind the Bucks fans can be and most certainly are it is something that time will tell very soon I am afraid.

My guess is that they will feel the same way the natives felt when they saw the Conquistadors’ firepower for the first time in their life and they realized they were fighting with wooden sticks and arrows while the Spaniards had the steel swords and the muskets…

With the ouster of head coach Jason Kidd on Monday, it was reasonable to assume that his coaching staff would not stay intact for long.

The first dominoes fell Tuesday night when assistant coaches Eric Hughes and Tim Grgurich were relieved of their duties, a team source confirmed.

Both men joined the Bucks following Kidd's arrival in 2014. Hughes spent the 2013-'14 season on Kidd's staff with the Brooklyn Nets. Before joining with Kidd, Hughes spent six seasons in Toronto as an assistant where he helped develop current all-star starter DeMar DeRozan.

Grgurich, a 75-year-old basketball guru, is well known across the country for his work at both the college and pro levels. He spent 12 years as an assistant coach at UNLV before jumping to the NBA, where he made numerous stops as an assistant, including a previous stint in Milwaukee in 2001-'02.

Grgurich does not appear in the team's media guide and is known for operating quietly behind the scenes, but his love of and knowledge about the game have endeared him to many players throughout the years
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

i understand what his current stats are from 3....but his career average suggests he should concentrate on the 3 ball more.

with bledsoe, brogdon , and giannis on this team...khris should never have the ball in his hands creating

i know...and THAT is the problem

khris has been enabled too long. the new coach needs to break that.

Listened to the Prunty interview during my commute home yesterday. Only heard him speak for five minutes or so but I've concluded a couple things:

1) His voice sounds EXACTLY as you would expect from someone with the name "Joe Prunty"

2) He'll be an assistant his entire NBA coaching career

Oh, definitely. With that being said, Middleton has been, at times and to an extent, unfairly characterized as this selfish me first player BECAUSE he's playing within that offense.

i totally get what you're saying. he's not without fault...but this is the player Kidd enabled him to be. I blame this version of Khris on Kidd...moreso than i blame Khris himself

I wonder how Khris really feels about JKidd, he always seemed to be one of his biggest supporters out there.

So maybe it went down like this.

During late morning practice...

Kidd: nononono! Run it again!

Brogdon: "ummm..... Coach Kidd sir..... I know we've been practicing the down by 3 with 2 seconds left, force a pass to Kris, let him take a contested off balance 3ptr, play for the past 3+ years, but I've been talking to the analytics guys and they said tracking it, the play has a 19.7% chance of success, and honestly, the whole league knows its coming, can't we practice something else besides this?"

Kidd: wtf are you talking to those God damn nerds for! They've never played bball, have they? I'm sure **** hall of famer, they can shove those pencils up their ass! Just because u went to school and got a bachelor's degree you think you know everything Poindexter?!"

Brogdon: "actually it's a masters degree."

Kidd: "**** YOU MAN! YOU PIECE OF ****! GO **** YOURSELF!"

Vaughn: "Jabari man, I'm going to FaceTime you in, Kidd's **** lost his ****."

Kidd: mother ****! Who do you think you are? The president!? You **** athletically limited little bitch!

Jabari: "woah. That's why I never talk to him, he's such a goddamn a hole."

Vaughn chuckles.

Kidd: wtf are you smiling at, Vaughn! You are the biggest mistake I ever made convincing them to draft you! Good luck ever seeing the court again! You will not be leaving that bench anytime soon!"

Kilpatrick: damn coach, chill he's just a kid.

Kidd: WHAT THE **** YOU SAY!? YOU MOTHER ****! GET OUT, YOU ARE DONE! YOU ARE OFF THE TEAM! I'M DONE WITH YOU! IN FACT, GOOD LUCK EVER SEEING THE FLOOR EVER AGAIN FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! I WILL CALL EVERY TEAM, EVERY COACH, EVERY GM, EVERY OWNER AND MAKE SURE NO ONE EVER PICKS YOU UP! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM!?

Horst: feign! This is urgent. Kidd's gone ****. He's lost it, we can't wait any longer.

Feign: alright, just lets just meet him for lunch, we will calm him down, we cant fire him a few hours before a game, call me back, set up a lunch the 3 of us will go.

Later at lunch......

Kidd: you need to understand, that if you say pizza you're not understanding that to really understand pizza it's new York style thin crust is actually pizza, it's important to understand that pizza is not understanding pizza unless it's new York, understand?

Horst: listen, Kidd that kind of outburst at practice, can't be tolerated, you can't blow up like that.

Kidd: **** you gumby! Pass me a garlic bread roll biiiyaatch!

Feign: Kidd, wtf!

Kidd: this place is bull. Look at our server, she's too young, doesn't get what she needs to do, there's no effort or energy there, this place sucks! Don't you tell me ****, do you know who I am!?

Later after lunch.

Horst: guys, kidd gone bat **** crazy. We need to fire him now. This can't wait.
Feign : Ya, he's out of his **** mind.
Lasry/Edens: ok do it, but tell Giannis now.

After Giannis gets the news:

Giannis: coach Kidd! Noooooooooo! You were supposed to take me to the mountain top. You were my Mr. Miyagi!
Kidd: yes my little grasshopper, everything you learned, is because of me. Tell the truth to the world and let them know I created you, I made you who you are today. Because I am the trainer of trainers, the master of masters, the great all knowing Jason Kidd. Maybe one day little grasshopper, may we meet again, but hopefully I have blessed you with enough of my knowledge and my training that you may become something more one day. Good luck grasshopper I knew this was coming, I had forseen it, because I see all and I know all. Goodbye.

If you want Middleton to only play off-ball and shoot 3's, put Snell in there. Middleton's value comes from abusing missmatches by posting up smaller players and shooting over the top. If you take that away this borderline allstar becomes an overpaid role player. Middleton is what he is. If you don't like it, trade him. There are many teams out there valueing what he does.

Or you could save yourself the trouble of continually changing the name on the coach's office door and acknowledge that who is on the sidelines may not be strongly correlated to team performance.

KG's comments about the Kidd firing, dismissed as ignorant ramblings here, were IMO pertinent and echo what I've been saying for a while about the real determinant of team success: building on-court chemistry, which takes a long time and is not coach-dependent.

Well according to reports 11/15 guys wanted Kidd gone. What kind of chemistry was that building?

No matter what you're feelings are on coaching if a team fires a coach on the afternoon they have a game, with no game following for 3 days you know there was something else that happened. Unhappiness with production, record all that was there as well, but it doesn't get you to the afternoon of a game night. It would obviously be more professional and more practical to transition into the interim with the 3 days off. It's pretty obvious some last straw moment occurred Monday and it had to be pretty disrespectful to make the move in the manner they did.
