Kawhi is untouchable. No point in thinking we could trade for him.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
Kahwi isn't gonna wanna stay here. He's unhappy in San Antonio because they don't have / can't attract any elite talent there. We're rebuilding and can't attract any elite talent here.
If for whatever reason Pop ends up trading him our way, it'll most likely be a short term rental where we have to give up the King's ransom for him. Nah man.
Maybe in a few years, but not now.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
I feel like the Nets pick is slowly becoming off the table even more so now...all these losses piling up 10 of the last 13...I doubt LBJ is thinking of staying long term. After listening to 670 the score yesterday Kap and company were talking about how CLE just needs to sit LBJ and Dan Gilbert in a room and hash out his plans so they know what to do, keep the pick cause he is bolting or trade the pick for someone to help now.
They made good points though on if they keep the pick he likely has no interest in staying, why would he want to rebuild with a young guy, he didn't want to with Wiggins or Bennett (Wiggins highly touted at the time). So it'll be interesting to see what is done, I hope the bulls atleast try to call on it.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
OK a little bit of science fiction, merging recent rumors and imagining us back on top in the East using our young talent
Trade 1:
Bulls get: Kawhi
SAS get: Markkanen, Valentine, Payne
Spurs get a top rookie, potential star; Valentine fits perfectly with Pop’s system; Payne is optionality here
Trade 2:
Bulls get: Lillard
POR get: Dunn, Mirotic, Holiday, 2018 1st
Dunn is the perfect complement to CJ. Blazers remain competitive, while piling up picks and young talent
Trade 3:
Bulls get: Nance Jr. (using Jimmy’s TPE)
LAL get: NOP 2nd
Lakers clear more cash and get a TPE.
In addition to becoming an immediate contender, Bulls maintains some cap room this summer (~$14MM including Nwaba’s and Zach’s cap hold). With Dame around, Kawhi has an incentive to stay (and I believe he can extend this summer)
Final roster:
Dame/Grant/Blakeney
Nwaba/Zach (makes perfect sense as 6th man ... easier said than done though)
Kawhi/Zipser
Portis/Nance/Pondexter
Lopez/Felicio

It's pretty pathetic how Lebron has that franchise on hostage. Lebron will never give ownership confirmation if he's staying or leaving. If he does he loses flexibility.

Miami is battling the Cavs for that third seed and has lost Waiters for the season. The Knicks are fighting to make the playoffs and need to start adding potential long-term talent around Porzingis.
Miami is crazy deep on the wings and IIRC they really started winning when Waiters went down.
Maybe Sacramento? - they have many pieces on rookie contracts.....like 10 I think.
They're also trying to free up room for a possible George Hill trade?
A possible framework of trade that only works if the Kings are interested in Hood, that said, I'm skeptical that they'd do anything that could impact their tank.
Chicago Trades: Niko Mirotic and Justin Holiday
Chicago Receives: Cavs 1st round Pick, Channing Frye, Thabo Sefolosha, Ekpe Udoh, and Cedi Osman
Cavs Trade: 2018 First Round Pick, Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert, and Cedi Osman
Cavs Receive: George Hill and Justin Holiday
Utah Trades: Rodney Hood, Derrick Favors, Thabo Sefolosha, and Ekpe Udoh
Utah Receives: Nikola Mirotic and Iman Shumpert
Sacramento Trades: George Hill
Sacramento Receives: Rodney Hood and Derrick Favors
I think there's some merit for each team (maybe less so for the Kings). Losing both Mirotic and Holiday helps us tank "harder". We could buy out Frye and Sefolosha is out for the year, so he won't impact our tank. We'd probably end up having to waive Zipser, but Osman's a better prospect anyway.

Pretty good on all ends although coming home with a 24-28th pick for Niko is disappointing. The rest are really fillers, Osman might pan out to being a slightly interesting bench player. Seems like Sac. comes out really well. They should part with Skal or WCS to make it more fair, and ideally send them CHI's way, but as you said, it's pretty not in their best interests to "improve" nor do they need to shed Hill's salary for some kind of FA aspirations.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
Well going back to an idea that was bounced around, how about getting Saric for Niko:
Saric, Bayless for Niko, Grant
Or, further expanded into the Utah concept...
Saric, Bayless to CHI
Niko to UTAH
J. Johnson, Grant, Hood to PHI
Sixers clear Bayless' deadweight salary, they get a two young off-the-ball 3&D types and a vet Joe who can help them now. Would be nice if Chicago gets a 2nd rd. back too.

1) Philly aint worried about Bayless' salary
2) Why would they dump a true talent in Saric for Grant and Hood
Niko just isn't gonna net us a mid 1st or a young player with REAL potential. He just isn't. We'll either need to include someone else of value in the deal like Nwaba or we'll be lucky to get a pick around 25. And I don't want to trade Nwaba!

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
Bulls trade - Niko , Holiday , and Grant
for
Wiz trade - Oubre, Mahinmi, 1 st round pick (currently 20th)
Bulls - We are currently at the 7th pick at the draft, this trade will help us improve our draft position by getting rid of our useful depth and helps us get a talented young SF (Oubre) that we can add to our core. The price for this is taking Mahinmi ( after this year he's at 2yrs/17 per)
Wiz - Wiz are capped out and the situation only gets worse moving forward, and that's before extending Oubre. The East is in flux (Cavs shakey, Raptors and Celtics not dominate either) Wiz need to make a move and this gives them depth and a ton of options. Lineups like Wall-Beal-Porter-Morris-Niko with Holiday, Grant, Gortat off the bench would be tough to guard and this bench wouldn't blow leads. Also can have Wall-Beal-Porter-Niko-Gortat with Holiday,Morris, Grant off the bench. Depth and talent can make this team more dangerous then keeping Oubre and a 20th pick that more then likely will not be that useful.

I like it but I posted this exact trade on the trade board last week and everyone said bad deal for Washington. "No way Bulls get Oubre and a 1st"
TBH I think it's about the value I'm expecting for Niko but who knows!?

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
^That would be the best case scenario..but Wiz seem really high on Oubre and we're asking for a 1st too. Idk if they take it, makes sense for them to do so as they get a young back-up swing guard, another swing G/F in Holiday and Niko who would be an upgrade over Morris.
They'd have to cut someone though because I believe that would leave them with 16 players though: So Mac, Robinson or McCullough are likely gone.
Wall/Grant/Satoransky/Fraizer
Beal/Meeks/Holiday
Porter/Holiday
Niko/Morris/Scott
Gortat/Morris/Smith

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
Suns fans seem to be somewhat on board with this one:
CHI-->PHX: Mirotic, Grant
PHX-->CHI: Knight, MKE 1st (which only conveys if it is 11-16 this year, 4-16 next year, then top 7 protected, then unprotected by 2021)
Follow with this:
CHI-->NOP: Portis
NOP-->CHI: Diallo, NOP 1st (lotto protected 2018, top 7 protected 2019, unprotected 2020)
Then finish with this:
CHI-->NYK: Felicio
NYK-->CHI: Noah, NYK 1st (top 1 protected this year, unprotected next year), CHI 2nd
Net outcome for the Bulls:
CHI Out: Mirotic, Grant, Portis, Felicio
CHI In:
Bad Contracts: Knight, Noah (both expire in 2020, and Knight can't play this year to hurt the tank)
Young piece to develop: Diallo
Picks:
NOP 1st (probably in the early 20's)
MKE protected 1st (expect to convey this year between 13-16)
NYK protected 1st (likely to convey this year around 10-12)
CHI 2nd (which should end up in the low-mid 30's this year).
Finish the season with this:
PG Dunn/Payne
SG Lavine/Nwaba
SF Holiday/Valentine/Zipser
PF Markkanen/Diallo
C Lopez/Noah
With this, Noah and Knight expire in 2020. Bulls pick ends up solidly in the top 5 going into the lottery, with 3 more firsts coming between this coming draft and the 2021 draft, plus an early 2nd to use on what could be a rotation level player.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
^NYK probably stays away from that trade with a 10ft pole...giving up basically two picks in the top 35 for Felicio only to move Noah's contract, yea that's not likely to happen. I could maybe see the CHI 2nd but not the first.
I don't even see DET jumping on that, losing a guy they traded for (Bradley), 1 first and a potential young piece for 1 year of Holiday and unproven Portis.
