Who are they scouting?!?

Grayson?

Bagley?

Horford Jr?

This definitely leads me to believe Collins is currently on the owner's untouchables list.

Wake Forest connect runs deep.
Mit Shah is a Wake Forest alum and a major benefactor to the school. He recently donated $5 million to the school to build a basketball practice facility. Shah also happens to be a co-owner of the Hawks as he joined the investment team led by principal owner Tony Ressler that purchased the team two years ago.

“He was always nudging me and saying, ‘If you are around at 19, we are going to take you,’” the 19-year-old Collins said. “He came through on his word. I’m happy to be a Hawk. I’m happy to be in Atlanta.”

Shah did more than suggest Collins could be a Hawk. He brought assistant general manager Jeff Peterson to a Wake Forest-Duke game. He spoke to coach Mike Budenholzer about Collins several times before an interview at the NBA Scouting Combine in May.

Ok, I'm someone who's kept caution when it's come to Trae Young so far (Jimmer being a major cautionary tale and Curry being an anomaly) but I must tip my cap to him going out there and giving Kansas the business.

I still don't wanna touch him with a top 5 pick but he's definitely earned my respect a few times over this year.

It'd be hard, but I would. If Budenholzer wants to be here long term and we want to capitalize on the post-Lebron era that is quickly approaching in the East.

Yes.

My fear is that it would cost us so much. I suspect they'd want any two of Taurean, Dennis and Collins plus our 2018 1st rounder.

Would that be worth it?

By doing less, Trae Young gives Sooners more

The super frosh stops trying to do everything, and his No. 12 Sooners stop fifth-ranked Kansas 85-80

Image

Every time Trae Young has done something great this year people have found ways to pick his game apart. The implication is Trae Young is all stats (he's leading college basketball in points and assists) and much less substance.

But after Tuesday night, you can no longer pick Trae Young's game apart and come away anything other than floored.

There was a great basketball lesson in Young's performance Tuesday as Oklahoma beat Kansas, 85-80. Young played better by doing less, and Oklahoma was the better team because it.

He scored 26 points on nine shots -- that's just about the most efficient game a player can have -- and he dished out nine assists.

This is what Trae Young looks like at his best: not jacking up 39 shots, not forcing 19 threes, not trying to be the superhero for a team that's not nearly as talented as he is. He is at his best when he tries to do less for himself and more for his teammates. This is what an NBA team will want to see, too.
CBS Sports

Young stayed on the attack against the Jayhawks while trying to involve his teammates...Even though he didn't take a single shot from the field in the final 7:51, he found a way to produce the winning play.
ESPN

That's good coaching adjustment, as well as an important development to Trae's game. I am now sold on the kid as a top 3 pick.

I think the overlooking of Trae Young is just anti-hype. When it gets to the draft he'll go top 5 for sure if not top 3. I'm not seeing the knocks on him other than his defense. His small size has proven irrelevant. He routinely shoots over his defender off the dribble. He finishes in the lane well. He finds his teammates. Hell he's averaging 4 rebounds and 2 steals a game.

In a heartbeat. I'd trade pretty much anything they want.

You won't know this until he plays in the league.

Wendell Carter = Ed Davis

1. Great find.

Bagley is easily my least favorite prospect of the top 5.

3. Seriously, though. Why wasn't Budenholzer there, also?

Maybe just making other team bite and get good assets back.

It's worth noting that last night, Bagley was largely overshadowed by Wendell Carter Jr who garnered more points, more rebounds, more blocks, more assists, more free throw attempts with fewer turnovers.

Seriously??
POB Bud would/might be there, Coach Bud has a different job - not saying he won't be on any scouting trips in season but when the season ends that is when he will scout.

I suppose. But if this kid is in high consideration to be the franchise cornerstone for the next decade and the game was being played close enough for the owner and GM to attend, I'd think the head coach might tag along for the first half to see the player up close and share thoughts in real time.

Not to mention that game featured 5 potential first round draft prospects. And we have 3 first round draft picks.

Update: I thought C-Viv was covering this game in Atlanta. It was played in North Carolina

Makes more sense if this was played in another state.

See, if you weren't trying to force-feed an agenda you would've realized it wasn't in town. So there.

Coaches coach.
Coaches aren't scouting during the season, that is the front office job, That's why they have scouts.
Just like when Mit Sah took GM Peterson to see a John Collins game. He was introduced to POB and Coach Bud at the end of the season.
You've just got a bug in your rug about Bud.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
