Yeah. No half measures. If they're making a run, make one goddammit.

Yeah, twirly was right about the Braun stuff. If we had a shot to move him to the Dodgers prior to last year we should've made it work. We're stuck with him now.

I think we tried fairly hard. Should’ve gotten it done in hindsight, but I think the Dodgers backed out in the final hour.

Regardless, it does suck.

If I recall correctly, it was supposed to be Puig(before he recovered his value), McCarthy, and a prospect for Braun(before he killed whatever value he had left in 2017). I think we got stuck haggling over that prospect. Should've gotten it done like you said.

Stearns was probably trying to squeeze an extra lottery ticket from the Dodgers because the casual fan would've been pissed if we "only" traded Braun for Puig, McCarthy and a prospect and overplayed his hand.

If they trade for Archer and sign Darvish can they win the world series next year? Where would people rank them as far as the best teams?

If we trade for Archer we should definitely still try to sign Darvish. Trade away Davies or someone else. Our rotation is cheap

I would consider using Woodruff and Santana as the centerpieces of an Archer deal. That way it opens up an extra rotation spot. That's only if we're somehow signing Darvish too. Again, I would've rolled my eyes at this stuff 24 hours ago but anything is possible now.

Darvish scares me, he really appears to be going downhill a bit, has pitched a ton of innings his entire career, plus he gives up HR's, at least seemed to last year he did, and now at Miller Park....

The upgrade from Woodruff to one of the arms mentioned here isn't great enough to justify a deal. You'd have to make a deal with Santana and prospects to supplement a rotation with Woodruff.

Braun has to be at first now, right?

Like Cain, I'm willing to say screw it and go after a WS in the next couple years if it means paying for it on the backend of the deal. Wichmae made the point it's then that Braun's deal ends and you'd hope the next big wave of prospects are carrying the team.

Here's BA's 2021 lineup:

C Manny Pina (34)
1B Travis Shaw (31)
2B Keston Hiura (24)
3B Lucas Erceg (26)
SS Orlando Arcia (26)
LF Monte Harrison (25)
CF Lewis Brinson (27)
RF Domingo Santana (28)
SP Brandon Woodruff (28)
SP Corbin Burnes 26)
SP Luis Ortiz (25)
SP Zach Davies (28)
SP Freddy Peralta (25)
CL Josh Hader (27)

The OF's been blown to **** but everything else is intact, they added Yelich, and the Brewers still have Lutz, Ray, Phillips, and Grisham in waiting. (that's assuming Santana is dealt too)

Well if they don't trade Santana then yea. But it sure seems Santana trade is inevitable

And like 5 other pitching prospects that could at the very least be depth guys not even mentioned.

I think Woodruff is the next Nelson, but like his make up a little better which makes me believe he develops quicker.

He hasn't lost any velocity yet at least. I'd just like to know how much of this decline was because he was tipping pitches.

The fact they didn't give up Woodruff, Ortiz, or Burnes leaves me optimistic that they weren't negotiable.

I’m not completely sold on Woodruff. I could be wrong, but he may be a guy the next few years that struggles to get to 5 innings.

He is/could be good, but I’d be ok if he’s included in a trade.

Hmm. I think he's gonna be our workhorse.

I’ll say this. If this is all Stearns then he had some big brass balls on ‘em.

Go big or go home. Get’er done. Yada, yada, yada.

It’s certainly exciting. May not be the kind of excitement I’m pleased with - yet. But we will see.
