this is why melo needs to be coming off the bench. sometimes there's just nothing george, roberson and adams can do when melo and westbrook decide they aren't going to be playing defense for the day. i've counted four threes by the wizards that had melo or westbrook nearby but they did not offer contests. the last one by morris, westbrook was two feet in front of him and still kept his hands down.

they are just both so lazy and unfocused on defense that the other three have to play perfect. obviously you can't bench westbrook. but melo should have been out of this game 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter and replaced with patterson.

also: wow, what a shock, after melo 'turned the corner' yet again he's missing all the same mid-range shots he was making when he had 'figured it out'. color me surprised.

Felton is an all-star snub

Billy's "experimental" lineup of the game: Felton/Westbrook/Roberson/Grant/Patterson.

Jerami Grant airballs a free throw so logically we make sure to find him for a corner three on the next possession, which he airballs because he shoots 24% from three.

Russ is completely useless when he plays shooting guard alongside Felton. We don’t even try anything creative when we throw out that lineup.

Does this say he’s shooting 7.7% from the right corner?

I can’t believe Melo made the extra pass to Ferguson. I’m not even sure I agree with that but I’m impressed.

Why did we bench Dre? Beal is going off on us!

I missed pretty much this whole game and just heard up 19 and saw it was down to 1 or 2. Don't know how to feel.

I’m pretty pleased with how we played. The wizards look like a less talented, less inspired version of OKC.

It felt like the wizards scored every time they got a shot up in the 4th but we got a steal on half the possessions.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

He made like 2 or 3 just amazing plays in that 4th. This is a loss if he doesn’t make those.

I knew he was good. But his ability to read the passing lanes is unbelievable.

Ayyy, I was close. We won by 9! Awesome win. Didn't get to watch much of the game, but how did Beal score so much? Was he switching on to Melo/Russ a lot? Ferguson with a +/- of 15. Nice outing for him. Hit three 3s! Huestis contributing in his limited time with 1 BLK and 1 STL and a +/- of 9.
