Didn't dismiss a Santana trade, though. Also thinks it's unlikely the Brewers, with a $90 mil payroll at the moment, sign a top FA starting pitcher.
I was just watching this too and there does seem like enough Braun to 1st smoke out there to think its a possibility.
Not sure why they couldn't add a top FA pitcher. 90 mil isn't some huge number and they probably have another 30 they could spend. Now if any of the FA pitchers are going to be worth their contracts is a whole other argument.
If they did keep domingo there are some other avenues they could go to grab an arm. Build something around some combination of phillips, thames, villar and a prospect or two and then just sign walker. Or hell they could deal some of those guys for prospects grab another lotto ticket fa pitcher and roll into the season like that and see how it goes and if you need to make a move for a top line pitcher do it in July.
I do kind of like the idea of keeping domingo because if he's dealt you're counting an awful lot on braun, thames, and shaw to provide the power og your lineup.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.
