No way that's not Achilles :(

No contact, no ankle twist, didn't grab his ankle and writh in pain like a bad sprain will cause. He couldn't bear weight--has to be Achilles rupture. Somehow these just happen with very little force. Matthews and Kobe's were similar and this injury appears to be less painful than a really bad ankle sprain.

I remember being at a nest game earlier a few months ago and Dennis Schroder of the Hawks had to be helped off the court. I thought it was something wrong with his leg but it turned out to be a sprained ankle injury

His ankle didn't twist at all....?

That absolutely looks like an achilles rupture. Really, really sucks.

Is torn achilles (worst case scenario) that bad for a finesse big man like cousins who doesn’t fully rely on athleticism? Someone help, that looks bad.

Yeah, achilles are the kind of injuries were dudes just don't come back the same. Definitely hope it isn't true.

Yea I saw the recoil go through his leg... not optimistic about this one. Sadly.

That is the single worst injury besides something career-ending that could have happened to this man.

It's going to take him at least a year and a half. I understand they have surgery now and guys bounce back faster but I don't think so in his case.

That could really devastate his game.

Turning down that trade got them AD.

Edit: They turned down more talent, but tanking matters. Being bad got them AD, you can't deny that Laker bois.

Cousins has a very fluid upper body and isn't the most... explosiveness reliant player. So... if this is what it looks like I'd expect him to bounce back better than most have. He's never played being able to create much separation anyway which has always amazed me. His body control and fluidity will still be there.

I really hope it's not an Achilles. I hate to see injuries like this. Hope it's not serious, Pels were hitting a nice groove.

Hopefully it is just a bad strain instead of a full rupture. Achilles rupture probably the worst injury for a NBA player.
