I hope they just acknowledge him or something at the ASG to try and keep his spirits up.

It's gonna be a battle.

Not good at all. I feel bad for New Orleans. Terrible news.

Yeah, when mine happened my foot went totally limp. My achilles shriveled up on the back of my leg like a snake. At the top of my heel at the base of where my achilles was it was like a hole.

If his foot didn't go limp then maybe it was just a partial tear. Devastating injury either way...

Hope and pray the guy recovers.

Mine snapped clean playing full court on a Sunday, got a MRI on Monday, surgery that Friday, 6 months later I was back to normal. Clean tears are better then ruptures.

Faintest of glimmer of hope here

His foot stayed straight(2nd thing I looked for after looking for the calf to ball up or move), the foot didn't go limp, it more then likely wasn't a complete tear(snap in half) because the Achilles kept it somewhat stable.

I feel for the guy, I was able to walk off the court and wasn't really in pain although I had to straight leg it since my foot just hung with no achilies to stabilize it.

Bright side?

Maybe Cousins can use this next year to really develop as a leader so that he can reach his potential of being the modern Shaq.

???

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe either way, it would have been bound to happen at some point soon?

Cousins should not do what Kobe did after that injury. Boogie should take a season + off and wait until he is 100%

When a player comes back and isn’t full strength they may injur the strong leg by favoring it. Which only leads to more injuries

Boogie has a lot of weight and a big frame so he would be prone to further injury

With these types of injuries, short cuts slow you down. Fight the desire to over train.

I'm inclined to think this way also. Possibly due to playing 45 minutes a game

Mine happened in 2007. I was already in my forties and I chose not to have surgery. It took me well over a year-- the better part of a year and a half to feel the same.

I feel blessed that I don't have any problems today but I sure stopped playing pickup basketball then. I have never played anything but Horse since.

The good news is it did heal. I'm just concerned about the healing of DeMarcus Cousins.

Really tough injury for a professional athlete.

As much as Cousins gets flack for being a handful during his career, he's been the mature one in a time where every All-Star seems to have a personal vendetta against the referees.

Just totally and completely sucks...

Can NOLA get some type of an injury exception, or is it too late in the season?

Its not like a time bomb that has to explode. With more rest, especially eliminating back to backs and extreme wear it’s avoidable.

This injury is a good reason the NBA should fully eliminate back to backs. Just start the season a few weeks sooner.

It would seem a major coincidence if this happens at the end of game and after 51 minutes 3 days ago.

But I'm not sure how you avoid it as N.O only played him around 30 minutes the next 2 games.

I don't condone the trolling. But neither do I condone the policing of thought, and I find it funny that some measly comment has mods/others threatening people for expression about an NBA celebrity. Someone is happy about a Cousins injury? Big surprise. Deep down inside I'm sure there are plenty of people who feel that way, and its OK.

Well, I can say as a Celtics fan that MAYBE this clears the way to possibly get Davis, but beyond that, why would I want Cousins injured? As a big NFL fan (and I imagine most here), injuries still aren't fun to see happen, no matter how often they do. I'm not down with someone outright celebrating it for some veiled reason like "karma".

If I identified purely as a Nuggets fan (which I am), then surely you could understand how this could come off as good news to me right? I wouldn't ever try and celebrate this, but my point is that if I did, it shouldn't come off as appalling or a shock to anyone. It just isn't worth it to engage, and it isn't worth it trying to implement rules now to allow people to think or feel the way they do with regard to an NBA celebrity. This s*** is just not that consequential.

Hoping he makes a speedy recovery. Achilles injuries are terrible and for it to happen to a superstar in his prime is horrible.

what scares me about this is it's such an harmless play.

it can happen to anyone, at any time, in any situation (not even sports related).

Isn’t he a free agent this summer? If so what contract do y’all see him getting now?

Honestly he's so good and still young enough that it shouldnt really matter. He'll get maxed.
