One of Bruno's best games yet. Great D throughout, caught fire offensively in the fourth quarter with four straight threes.

In a perfect world Bruno gives the Raps 85% of Siakam's defense with legit 3pt shooting.

Re: Bruno Caboclo
It's kinda funny, I think we got messed up by the fact that Bruno pretty much had to sign his entry-level contract the year after he was drafted because we had no G-League team yet. What OKC did with Josh Huestis was stash him in the G-League for a full season before signing him. He's a bit of a different case because he was drafted a senior and Bruno was 18 at the time. But had we gotten the 905 that year, we might've left him there full-time for two seasons without signing the rookie scale deal and then signed him in 2016, where he'd now be in his second year and not at risk of renouncing the QO for cap purposes.
Bruno wasn't a complete waste in the sense that the strategy we attempted to implement for his development really laid the groundwork for getting the 905 team in the first place, and also how we would go on to develop other prospects a year or two later with Delon, Poeltl, Bebe, Siakam, Norm and FVV. However, the odds are we aren't going to be the team to reap the reward (if there even is any) with Bruno specifically.

I love to see Bruno doing well it seems as though everyone has written him off , he is just the kind of player we need , one that can shoot .

He's still a 33% three point shooter, and he has to bring that up, but the one thing that distinguishes him from the second unit guys in particular is that when Bruno takes a three, he won't hesitate, even when he's 1-6 from behind the arc like he started today. He never misses by much, has very nice form, and because he'll get one out of three on average, you have to defend him, unlike, say, laying off Siakim and conceding him open looks, because Bruno is capable of doing what he did today - ripping off multiple threes in a quarter - and you don't know when he will do it.

Re: Bruno Caboclo
Bruno is becoming a nice player. I like that he's starting to hit the boards along with playing great D. He's always a threat from 3 and he believes in his shot and isn't afraid to take them. His outside shot hasn't been dropping that well of late, but he's bringing major contribution in other areas.
I saw him do a move 2 games ago that I don't think anyone else in the league is capable of...including Durant/Giannis (edit: Maybe Giannis).
Very glad to see him starting to put it all together. Especially contributing to the team winning. As much as I'd like to see him contribute on the main team, I'm happy to see him stay with the 905 the whole season and try to win another championship there.
Whether he stays with the Raps or not (I hope he does...he's exactly what we need, and despite what the haters are saying he legitimately has superstar potential - keyword being potential) He's definitely putting himself in a good position to get another NBA contract at the minimum. I seriously hope the Raps keep him though. I would love to see him guarding KD in a pick and roll with Steph Curry.

Bruno completely dominated crunch time of today's game on both ends. He's a defensive terror. Fun to see and he was drilling 3s today too. The Raptors 905 are excellent again - Stackhouse can really coach.

Re: Bruno Caboclo
If he ever gets a chance with the big club again and craps the bed like he did in the preseason then you know it's in his head because he's not THAT far off. In theory it would be interesting to see a lineup of Lowry, DeMar, OG, Bruno, Ibaka play.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Re: Bruno Caboclo
http://www.raptorsrepublic.com/2018/01/27/two-way-caboclo-performance-leads-raptors-905-4th-win-row/
Blake Murphy's assessment:
Raptors 905 games are just a little more fun when Bruno Caboclo is cooking.
That was the case on Saturday, as Caboclo was a monstrous two-way force in the 905’s 106-95 victory over the Wisconsin Herd. With a pair of Toronto Raptors teammates on hand to watch and two of his co-assignees having quieter nights, Caboclo turned in one of his best halves of the season on offense and one of his most complete defensive performances of what’s already been a strong defensive season. It wasn’t all Caboclo, but in every edge the 905 had – rebounding, 3-point shooting, shot-blocking – he made his presence felt, making head coach Jerry Stackhouse beam by the end of the game.
“Bruno was big-time tonight,” he said with a smile.
“Speed kills and you can’t teach length,” Stackhouse said. “Not in the game of basketball. And that’s what he has, he has a ton of length. He’s able to get his hands on a lot of balls that a lot of people, even myself, could only dream about. It’s really good for the things that we want to do scheme-wise defensively. ”
“I’m happy for him, just ’cause he hasn’t been shooting it great lately, but he’s been getting his work in, his reps in, spending extra time in his player development. He’s been shooting the ball well, it just hadn’t carried over to the games,” Stackhouse said. “It’s good to see that hard work is starting to pay off. More so than anything, I thought he was disruptive on the defensive end, all over the place with deflections. Our grading system, I know he’s gonna be a big-time plus, ’cause he was really really active on both ends.”
Blake Murphy's assessment:
Bruno Caboclo was really, really good here. I know some just want the box score line, and those people would come away impressed. He hit 7-of-15 on threes and had 25 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks, and a plus-13 mark in 38 minutes. That all speaks for itself, especially the 3-point shooting. There was so much Caboclo did that won’t show up there, too, though. He was a monster defensively, deterring Herd drivers in the paint, timing his help well, helping the helper, and taking care of the glass (this is the third time in the last four games he’s had a big rebounding night). Offensively, he mostly just hit shots in the flow of the offense but also had a nice drive with his left for a sweet finish, the second game in a row he’s gone left successfully. Caboclo has a legitimate case for G League All-Defense Team consideration right now, and when his shot falls like this, the reasons the Raptors have been patient with the experiment come into pretty clear focus.

I'm pretty sure he won;'t be eligible, but they could get him on a minimum salary. Not much of a paycut for him, and as I understand it, he rally likes Toronto. However, the wildcard, among others, is will he follow Stackhouse somewhere. Stack really believes in Bruno - and has to get some of the credit for his development.

Channing Frye (vs Raptors) on offense and Rudy Gobert on defense. Not bad. And I thought this was the end for him.

Re: Bruno Caboclo
I think as much loyalty Bruno would have to Stackhouse, he'd have more for Masai. So as long as Masai is here, I think we're his number one option.
From Bruno's perspective though, NBA playing time has to be a big consideration and I wouldn't be surprised if he see's Casey as a roadblock to that happening. Another team could offer him a nice offer sheet with a promise of substantial playing time. It'd be hard to turn down.
Regardless. If Raptors are really high on, I think they match within reason.

I'm not betting on a big offer sheet. My thinking if the team wants him back, he will be back one way or another. The priority is signing Fred Van Vliet, but once that is done, they still have to fill out a minimum of 13 (or is it 14?) roster spots.

Re: Bruno Caboclo
I think if you offer Bruno basically a new contract (maybe at the salary of the 20th pick) with some team options in years 3 and 4 as if he is a rookie next year he'd jump at it. He can be our 1st rounder next year since we have no picks.

Hopefully he will follow Stackhouse , once he takes Casey's job next year .

Siakam is a good passer, Bruno doesn't know what passing is.
