Easier said than done. AG is probally what it would take to get inside that top 7 to get Bamba or JJ. I don't think that management is going to move on from AG and that he will be resigned so I don't see it likely at all that we trade for another one. This year would be the year to do it though as most scouts are saying that next year will be an all-time weak class. I just don't see it happening.

AG can't be traded on draft night anyway. The only guy that might get us into the top 10 for another pick could be Isaac, but he'd have to show something really solid at the end of the season, and then if he does, do you even consider trading him? Lol.

The other hope is we swindle another pick out of a team at the deadline. Someone like NOLA/Pistons/Nuggets/Clippers who are desperate for the playoffs. Trade them something that they might feel keeps them in contention for a top 3 protected pick. Then hope the chemistry doesn't work and they slide. At the very least we come away with another late lottery/mid 1st pick, which we can then explore packaging to get back into position to draft Bamba.

But a Young/Bamba combo from this draft would be insane. Best offense and best defense.

Bamba
Gordon
Isaac
Hezonja
Young

Shut the front door! Reason to hope again.

Mario is closer to a PF than a SG. But more importantly, Mario is closer to a Winn-Dixie bag boy than an NBA starter.

If you’re running a lineup of Young, Isaac, Gordon and Bamba you need some experience, consistency and leadership with that last spot.

Right. I was just talking about if we made a move for another draft pick before the deadline. I would not trade Isaac, not even for Bamba. I just wouldn't. He's undervalued on this board but is very valued around the league. People can just go listen to one of the lowe posts earlier this year that he did with Windhorst talking about how valued around the league he was. Im positive that our front office feels the same.

If we could somehow pull a deal off like that I would be all for it. Utah is really the only team I could see that maybe happening in a deal for Fournier. I really like Bamba. Still not giving up on the possibility of resigning Hezonja are you? Its not happening man. That ship has sailed :(

Lol. I love that Mario starting is the craziest part of that to you. Finding a deal that puts us in a position to draft Bamba is far more unlikely.

I’m not tied to Mario taking the 2 spot at all. We’d have Ross and Simmons still on the books at that point. If whatever deal we made to land Bamba hadn’t cost us Fournier then slot him in. And in a couple seasons, once we’ve got cap space, then we can look to sign a proper experienced SG.

All in on Trae Young or Bagley III. Doncic looks amazing, but we got burnt by Euro's lately. I'd only take him if Young, Bagley and Porter are all off the board. Too many euro's makes the team soft.

Oh yeah, I’m not proposing we trade Isaac. Just saying he’ll be the only player with the right kind of value to get us up in there. Unless we somehow manage to move Vuc for a late lottery/mid 1st and can then find a team that would trade down for Fournier + that pick.

Otherwise, we just don’t have the assets.

And nah, I’m not giving up on Mario until I see the headline he’s been traded or signed elsewhere. That dream will burn strong!

Trading back into the draft for another pick is all anyone is talking about today. Crazy or not, it’s the talk of the day so here I am to join in.

Under that understanding, yes, your love fest for Mario is the craziest thing going on here.

Why would he ever want to resign with us? I don’t expect him to flourish anywhere but he can’t get less of a shot than he has had here. If we really thought anything of him we would have picked up his option. We aren’t going to offer him the $$ or the playing time he wants. He’s gone.

MagicFan101 wrote:We might need to slow down on the talk of trading back in to get Jaren Jackson with a second pick as entered the top 5 in a number of mocks. One very popular and up to date mock even has him AHEAD of Young and Doncic right now.

I would target Mikal Bridges or Kevin Knox as more realistic options if we traded back in.

This is a more realistic scenrio. Kevin Knox and Isaac are actually buddies from school. There is a history there. For those that miss Tobias, Knox will make you feel right at home. He is my pick for mid lottery sleeper. The guy can score but will be a defensive liability at the next level....enter PF Jonathan Isaac. This would mean we would be moving AG which is too risky to do unless we are guaranteed a top 5 pick. By this route we roll out with a lineup of

Young
Fournier
Knox
Isaac
Vuc

Looks good on paper but any plans of the future without Aaron Gordon is just not smart. If AG is here to stay(which weltman has hinted he is) then Trae Young is our guy. He is the best complement player next to AG. But if we land a top 3 pick, does management think Trae is worthy of that high pick or do they go with a sure big like Bamba or Bagley III? Maybe even trade down?

So many different possibilities and ways Weltman can shape this team. I think evaluation period is over and there are a couple of takeaways so far;

1). We need a PG. Payton is gone and we have wasted enough time with him. Not a strong PG draft with star power aside from Trae Young.
2). AG is here to stay. Prob the only bright part about this season. 22yo and avg career 18/8. He is going to blow up next year when he actually has some help from players that complement his game.
3). Time to move on from the Henny guys like EP, Biz, Fournier, and even Vuc. All matter on what kind of offers we get.
